A Story of a Family Breakfast
It's Sunday morning, and everything is still,
except the sound coming from the kitchen below.
His and her voices speaking in soft, murmuring tones.
The baby yelling as she demands food.
A soft tap, tap, tapping as mother stirs food in the pan.
The ring of a plate hitting wood.
Then mother softly laughing as father says something to her
and the baby pounds baby hands on the high chair tray.
Then the tiny, high-pitched tinkle of the baby's sister floats up,
Followed by father's reply, "Time to eat."
After a break, the sound of plates hitting plates,
forks hitting forks,
glasses hitting glasses,
and the dishwasher's door is shut.
And then, the voices of a family descending down the stairs to their apartment in Grandma's home.
It's Sunday morning and everything is still,
and life is sweet.

How to Add Stitching to Your Layouts
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS2 with Windows 7
One of the best things about digital scrapbooking is the ability to create the look of various scrapbooking techniques without all the mess and effort. One example is the ability to create the looking of sewing stitches. It can be created easily without the hassle of pulling out the old sewing machine, threading it, and then actually sewing on your layout.
Commercial license versions of Dynamic Brush Set: Basic Stitching 4901 Biggie are also available.
The Dynamic Brush Set: Basic Stitching 4901 Biggie allows you to easily create digital stitching. Just like a sewing machine, it has a variety of stitching options that can create unique looks on your digital scrapbooking layouts. Install the dynamic brushes just like your regular brushes.
Once your brush is installed, simply select the stitch style you would like to use. Then select the color you want your stitching to be from the foreground color. You can also adjust the size of your stitching in the brush options found at the top of your screen when the Brush Tool is selected.
Once you've selected your color and size, make sure the Opacity of your brush is at 100%. Now, begin to digitally sew to your heart's content on your layout. Make sure to create a new layer in your Layers Palette for your digital stitching. By simply holding down the mouse key and dragging, you can begin to digitally sew onto your layout. If you would like to have a nice smooth, even line of stitching, hold down the Shift key before you begin dragging the mouse.
You can also do freehand stitching by simply drawing curved lines, circles, and random shapes by dragging your mouse. Here I created a curvy zigzag line on my layout. This can take a bit of practice to get all of the stitches looking aligned. The faster you move your mouse, the smoother the line tends to be.
After you have created your stitching, give it some dimension by applying a stitching style like the ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Stitch – 1801. This gives it a slight shadow and some additional texture to the stitches, creating a more realistic look of thread on your digital layout.
Check out the various stitching brushes, tools, and actions that are available for you to digitally sew on your layouts! Even if, in real life, you can't sew for the life of you, you can easily become an expert digital seamstress!
