Creating A Magical Halloween Layout
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS3 with Windows XP
Today we are going to create a special digital scrapbooking layout using Twilight Magic Collection Biggie and Twilight Magic Midnight Paper Mini. We want a paper that is a little dark, spooky, and magical. We will pick a photo that we can cut and paste as if the person is right in the scene.
First, drag and drop your background paper onto your new layout. Next, drag your photo on top of the background and resize if necessary.
Now, "cut out" the subject of your photo using a Lasso, Eraser, Photo Mask, or Pen Tool.
Your subject should now be standing in your dark scene. Clean up the edges so it blends nicely.
Next, dress up the layout with some word art from Brush Set: Twilight Magic WordArt Biggie. Some of the brushes in the set have two variations (one for light backgrounds and one for dark), so make sure you experiment and find which one works best. If you find the contrast is still not enough, use the Burn Tool to darken the background behind the brush a little bit (which I also did on the journaling box of my final layout to make the white type "pop").
Now you can further embellish your layout or leave it as is! You've created a fun and magical Halloween-esque layout.

Using Assemble Your Own Greeting Cards
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS5 on a Mac
Today, I'm going to show you how fun and easy it is to create your own cards using our Assemble Your Own: Greeting Cards!
You can use these wonderful sets to create cards to print and mail the "old-fashioned way" or you can email these cards so easily. You decide! You can even create mini layouts with all the elements included.
First, pick one of the card bases to build your card on. I am using my Assemble Your Own Cards: Christmas - Whimsy.
Next, pick out some embellishments and a Christmas greeting and drag those onto your card base. Play around with the composition until you are happy.
Notice that the card base is on a printable 8.5x11-inch sheet with crop marks and instructions on how to cut and fold. It makes it so easy!
Now, save your card as a JPG file and print it out on a lightweight cardstock and follow the directions on the printable sheet to fold. Printable envelopes are also included in the digital kit, so all you need to do is print it out, fold and glue it, then add a stamp!
Next, let's create a photo card! I have used my Assemble Your Own Cards: Antique Christmas set to create this next card. Choose a card base and embellishments, photo, and greeting, then start building your card.
Now, it's ready to print and mail! Or you can just crop it and send it as an e-card.

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On October 26th, we will be doing a ScrapSimple challenge! Create a layout using at least one ScrapSimple product. If you haven’t used them before, we’ll have some great ideas for you in the chat. Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!
October Message Board Game: Product Picks
Join us for a new game in October, where we encourage you to stroll through the aisles of the boutique and do a little window shopping!
Each Monday through Saturday in October, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of one or two product designers in the Product Picks game thread. You will then head to the Scrap Girls Boutique and navigate to that particular designer's product pages. Choose any of their products (your favorite product, one you like, or one you wish you owned), then head over to the Product Picks game thread and share the product name, Boutique link, and a brief explanation of why you chose that product.
At the end of the month, members who haves posted links to 42 products (one for each designer) will be entered in a drawing for one of three $10 Gift Certificates. Members who have posted links to 16-41 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $5 Gift Certificates. And members who have posted links to 10-15 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $3 Gift Certificates.

October Monthly Layout Contest: October is all about color! Show us those fabulous fall colors or spring colors for our Southern Hemisphere members! Maybe you have a favorite color you'd like to showcase or a very colorful photo to scrap. Remember, it's all about colors!
