Tribute to the Sweetest Dog
Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair. But I am a sincere believer "that all things work together for good," so it comforts me to know that the terrible accident which took you from us served some purpose... even though I'll probably never know what that purpose was.
My favorite memories of you are from when we first got you as a tiny puppy. Mom really didn't want a puppy, but Dad wanted to get you before I got married so you would be my puppy, too. The day after they brought you home, I was very sick. They all had to go somewhere and didn't want to leave you alone, so I offered to watch you even though I was sick. I wasn't looking forward to chasing a puppy around, but thought I should since I would be home anyway. Instead of being bad, you came and curled up on my back while I was lying on the couch. You fell fast asleep. We both slept that way until everyone came home. I knew then that I absolutely loved you!
My other favorite memory of you was the first time we brought you camping. We were going for a walk when suddenly two big dogs came running out of the forest toward me. Instead of running away, you ran in front of me and started growling at them. You were so cute!
Everyone who met you loved you, but how could they help it? You were usually so mellow, and other times crazy, faithful to a tee, and friendly to everyone. You were everything a good dog should be.
I was a little nervous the first time I brought Amber to stay with you. Neither of you had ever been around dogs or babies, but you both loved each other instantly. You were so amazingly gentle with her - especially when she wasn't gentle to you! You'd let her crawl all over you, pull on your ears, and take your toys away.
You were so much more than "just a dog," and you will be very, very missed!
- Nicole Elliott
Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.
Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to [email protected]. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!

Scrap Girls' Member of the Month - October 2011
Member Name: MariJ
1. What program do you use to do your digital scrapbooking?
Adobe Photoshop Elements 6
2. Are you a Mac or a PC?
Mac! I work on a 13-inch laptop and LOVE it. I actually started digital scrapping after I got my Mac, so I have never known anything else. I find Macs so easy and intuitive to work with.
3. Tell us the make and model of digital camera that you use.
A pink Canon PowerShot SD1100IS because it's small and easy to carry. I try to take it with me each day so as not to miss an interesting shot.
4. Name one thing that every beginning digital scrapbooker should know.
Don't get discouraged when beginning. Try to have fun and keep creating layouts that please you while continuing to learn, take classes, ask questions, etc. Before you realize it, your layouts will reach new heights!
5. If you could be transformed into a digital scrapbooking embellishment, what would you choose and why?
A shadow. Each month reading this interview I'd think – "I'd be a shadow," but never, ever did I think I'd be answering the question! I'm a "behind-the-scenes" gal and not comfortable in the spotlight or receiving recognition. I love how shadows complement and help other elements stand out and be their best!
6. What time of day do you find that you do your best scrapbooking?
Most definitely early morning! The later it gets, the more me, my brain AND my creativity fades. :-)
7. What is your favorite snack?
Pretzels. I'm trying to eat more fruit, but give me a pretzel any day! Whole grain is my favorite, but I like any kind.
8. What is your least favorite household chore?
Vacuuming. For some reason, it makes me all hot and bothered and sweaty! And I like saying, "Ironing is against my religion." I rarely ever iron.
9. Finish this sentence. "I couldn't live without..."
Well, of course family and friends, but after that I couldn't live without Nature. It refreshes and revives me just to be in the great, big beautiful outdoors!
10. What's your current favorite layout that you've done?
Commercial license versions of ScrapSimple Word Art Templates: Title It - Beach, Brush Set: Sun Bursts, Brush Set: Misty and ScrapSimple Tools - Actions: Sketch It PSE 8501 Mini are also available.

Early on Monday, Pat will post a thread on the Chat section of the board giving you the quote that you will use to make your own word art. It's not hard, and she will have a layout with a Word Art example in the gallery. Then we'll meet in the chat room to have fun, chat, and create our Word Art layout! Everyone can participate and create a layout, even if you can't make the chat. Hope to see you there!
