Bumping Our Shins
People hurt each other without even trying.
We each are - in our own way - flailing about,
trying to make our way the best we can.
In the process of trying, we bump our shins
on the couch
and
on each other.
No harm intended in the clumsiness
but still...
it smarts to try and fail.
When we become wise enough to remember that we are all

it is easier to forgive and forget when we bump our shins

Journaling around a Shape - Fun with Type Paths
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop Elements 9.0 with Windows Vista
One of the coolest things that Photoshop does, that Photoshop Elements (PSE) does not, is it fits text to any shape! I only have PSE, so I have been unable to play around with this cool feature. But lucky for me, and all you PSE users, the Scrap Girls Designers have created some fantastic products that allow us to type text around numerous different shapes. These products are known as Type Paths. Here is a list of links of the Type Paths products that are currently in the Scrap Girls Boutique:

Now, let me show you how simple they are to use. After downloading ScrapSimple Type Paths: Shape Up, I will open the rectangle shape PSD file and drag it onto my layout. Next, I will resize and position the type path where I want it, and finally I will triple-click on the text and start typing. As easy as 1-2-3, I now have perfect rectangular journaling around my photo!
It really is as simple as that.
During this three-step process, you may see a dialog box pop up that tells you the font is missing or needs to be updated. All you need to do is click the "OK" box and move on. With Type Paths, you can choose any font, size, or color you would like. You can also change your letter spacing or use only part of the path. They are so simple to use and make journaling fun!
Scrap Girls has also made it easy to type text into shapes rather than around them. In the Boutique, these products are called Type Shapes.

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On October 12th, we'll have a Single Photo Challenge. Create a layout using a single, large, wonderful photo! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!

October Message Board Game: Product Picks
Join us for a new game in October, where we encourage you to stroll through the aisles of the boutique and do a little window shopping!
Each Monday through Saturday in October, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post the name of one or two product designers in the Product Picks game thread. You will then head to the Scrap Girls Boutique and navigate to that particular designer's product pages. Choose any of their products (your favorite product, one you like, or one you wish you owned), then head over to the Product Picks game thread and share the product name, Boutique link, and a brief explanation of why you chose that product.
At the end of the month, members who haves posted links to 42 products (one for each designer) will be entered in a drawing for one of three $10 Gift Certificates. Members who have posted links to 16-41 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $5 Gift Certificates. And members who have posted links to 10-15 products will be entered in a drawing for one of two $3 Gift Certificates.

October Monthly Layout Contest: October is all about color! Show us those fabulous fall colors or spring colors for our Southern Hemisphere members! Maybe you have a favorite color you'd like to showcase or a very colorful photo to scrap. Remember, it's all about colors! Share those layouts in the October Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MT on October 31st. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties.
