Note from Ro: Here are some of my favorite quotes.
Don't Ever Let Someone Tell You...
"I am not at all the sort of person you and I took me for." - Jane Welsh Carlyle
"You can do more than praying after you've prayed. You can never do more than praying before you have prayed." - Corrie ten Boom
"Intuition is a spiritual reality and does not explain, but simply points the way." - Florence Scovel Shinn
"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." - Roy Rogers
"Pride creates a noise within us which makes the quiet voice of the spirit hard to hear. And soon, in our vanity, we no longer even listen for it. We come quickly to think we don't need it." - Henry B. Eyring
"One can never change the past, only the hold it has on you." - Merle Shain
"Don't ever let someone tell you that you can't finish the race because you can." (Located in my notebook. I think I made it up. I'm not entirely sure I did - but I probably did. If not, I wish I did because it's a good thought!)
Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.
Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to [email protected]. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!
Join the Scrap Girls Monthly Club and you can have fun with the newest traditional digital and printable scrapbooking looks while saving! (A $40.87 value for $9.99 or less!) The Scrap Girls Club contents are released on the 1st day of the month (or the closest business day to the 1st). With the Scrap Girls Club, you will receive:

Making Journaling Read-able
Journaling is a very important part of scrapbooking that a lot of scrappers leave off because it can be difficult. "What do I write? I'm not a good writer." Sound familiar?
Journaling helps me remember details of a special memory that I usually forget, but unfortunately, writing does not come easily for me.
One of the ways I journal when I'm not sure what to write is to use bullet points. Not only do bullet points make it easier for me to come up with my thoughts, but by natural appearance, they are very readable to the eye. Your eyes naturally scan over bullets, and you quickly get a feel for the moment you are trying to capture.
Bullet points can be as simple as one or two words, short phrases, or even sentences if you are more ambitious. With the simplicity of using bullets, you don't have to worry about the flow of paragraph writing. To take it a step further, when I have a difficult time coming up with even simple bullet points, I'll use something "concrete" to borrow from.
For instance, my kids were in swimming lessons during the summer. I took a wonderful photo of my son swimming across the pool for the first time. I wanted to capture his accomplishment and the pride I felt seeing him do this. But I was having a hard time finding the right words. I decided to "borrow" his progress report from class and use the report's skill points, word-for-word, as my journaling bullets.
I think the bullets capture what I originally intended and showcase all of my son's swimming accomplishments very nicely. Not only that, but the journaling was a snap!

Swap Crop Chat
Saturday, September 24th - 6:00PM MDT
It's time for the Swap Crop Chat with Lei (Bride) and Carla (CRS)! We've done the swapping and created the layouts; now it's time to chat about all the gorgeous layouts! I don't know what it is, but these swaps bring out the best in everyone. This is the time to chat about the theme and the beautiful layouts and to learn about the swap crop if you haven't participated before. We'll brainstorm a theme for next month, too! If you haven't done so, you can check out past swaps in the Swap Crop Gallery!
Life Moments Chat

Join Pat (PBarnes) in the chat room at 2pm MT for a Life Moments Chat. These chats are meant to get you inspired to scrap about yourself. A theme will be posted earlier in the day to help you get started.
Sketch Challenge Crop
Tuesday, September 27th - 6:00PM MDT
It's time for the Sketch Challenge and Crop! Join Cheri (Cheri T) on Tuesday, September 27 at 6pm MT in the Scrap Girls Chat Room! Enjoy getting a little creative boost for your pages? Do you need help getting started? Then this is the challenge for you! A few hours before the chat begins, Cheri will post a link for you to download the sketch. Use it as the starting point for your page; be inspired by the basic arrangement; flip things around or scraplift the whole thing - hook, line, and sinker. All interpretations of the design are welcome and encouraged. Don't worry about any deadlines... post your layout when it works with your schedule. Hope to see you there!
New Member Chat

All are welcome, new and long time members included. You do need to have Java installed on your computer to access the Live Chat.
September Message Board Game: Posting Contest!
It's that time again - Posting Contest time! This is where you are rewarded for your flying fingers and chattiness. The Contest will run from September 1st when we post the thread to September 30th at 12:00 Midnight (MST).
To enter the Message Board Posting Challenge, you MUST reply in the game thread with your CURRENT post count. This is the number under your Avatar that shows when you post. (NOTE: Do not post the number found on your profile; it is a different number that is calculated differently.) During the month, chat your fingers off! At Midnight on September 30th, we will calculate your post count based on the numbers posted in the original thread.
Members with Message Board posts over 50 will be put in a drawing for a $5 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate. Members with Message Board posts over 200 will be put in a drawing for both the $5 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate and a $10 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate. Members with Message Board posts over 400 will be put in a drawing for a $15 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate, as well as the $5 and $10 Gift Certificates.
For complete details, visit the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the Scrap Girls Forum.
September Monthly Layout Contest: The children are headed back to school, and there is a sense of learning in the air! For the September Layout Contest, share your layouts about learning a new skill! We'd love to see the stories about someone in your life learning and growing. Remember when your little one learned to ride a bicycle or your teenager learned to drive a car? Or how about when you learned to use your digital scrapbooking software? Share those layouts in the September Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MT on September 30th. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. Two layouts will be selected to win a $10 Gift Card to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Check our message board calendar if you have any questions about what is happening at Scrap Girls. All event times are given in Mountain Time Zone unless otherwise noted.
