My Silhouette Cutter
I just recently had a birthday and received some wonderfully thoughtful gifts. One of the gifts that I'm very excited about is my Silhouette electronic cutter. I've been stalking them for a while now and drooling a little bit over them. Now the stalking can end because I have one of my very own! I'm thrilled to be able to pair up my digital scrapbooking supplies with my cutter and make some unique and fun items!
Fairly easily, I was able to design some cards and tags in Photoshop, using Garden Plot Collection Mini and then open the image up in the Silhouette software and cut them out (using the Trace command, then the print-and-cut feature). In just a few minutes, I had custom designed unique die-cut tags!
My mind is spinning with all the ways I can use my digital scrapbooking supplies with it - craft templates, seasonal and holiday décor, printable vinyl applications, clothing appliqués and decorations, and much more! I know there is so much more to learn about my new toy, and I'm anxious to get to it.

Adding Styles to a Title
Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended with Windows Vista
Do you ever finish a layout and think to yourself that it could possibly use something a little extra? I'm going to share with you an easy way to add some pizazz to your layout titles!
I was working on a layout featuring some photos of my daughter. She was wearing pink and black - so I went with a pink, black, and white combo for my color palette. I had a simple yet effective piece of word art as my title. But I felt it needed a little something extra. Follow along as I show you what I did to jazz things up a little!
Before editing a title, it's a good idea to duplicate it, just in case you change your mind and don't like your edits. Right-click on the title layer in your Layers Palette (make sure you right-click in the grey area, not the layer image preview). Select "Duplicate Layer", and click "OK".
I wanted my title to stand out and add a little shine, so I applied a black glitter outline style from ScrapSimple Tools – Styles: Glitter Glows 6401 Super Biggie to my duplicated title layer.
I liked the glitter stroke, but still wanted to add a little more shine to my title. I duplicated my original title layer once again (right-click on layer, then select "Duplicate"). I chose to add a silver glitter style from the same style product mentioned above.
I decided to emphasize the e in beautiful since my daughter's name is Evelyn. I selected the e using the Rectangular Marquee Tool. It adds the "marching ants" around the e. With the ants still selected, I right-clicked on my layout and chose Select> Inverse. Then I cut the selection (Ctrl+X on keyboard).

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On July 6th, we'll do a white space challenge! Create a layout using white space. This "negative" or blank space guides the eye to the important areas of your page. Remember, it certainly doesn't have to be the color white! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! Hope to see you in the chat room!

July Message Board Game: Summer Scavenger Hunt!
Dust off those thinking caps and hunting boots! We're having a Summer Scavenger Hunt, and you're invited! Join us for the July Message Board Game, where each Monday through Saturday during the month of July, a member of the Welcoming Committee will post a clue in the official game thread. The clue will describe a product from the Scrap Girls Boutique. To participate, search the Boutique for the product and post a link to the product page in the official game thread.
But wait, there's more! In a new twist to the scavenger hunt game, on certain days you will be sent to the Scrap Girls Gallery to look for layouts using specific products or collections, and then post a link to your layout comment in the official game thread.
Three winners will be drawn from all the members who correctly identify a product or find Gallery layouts throughout the month. Each winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Good luck in your search!

July Monthly Layout Contest: As the United States celebrates its independence this month, we'd love to see some examples of how you've gained independence! For July's Monthly Layout Contest, show us your layouts featuring someone displaying independence! It could be a toddler learning independence or a young person out on their own for the first time. You could even scrap about a time you displayed some independence! Be sure to include some journaling to support your photos. Post your layouts in the July Monthly Layout Gallery before Midnight MT on July 31st. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. If your layout is one of the two chosen winners, you will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery.
