10:00AM MT - East Coast High Noon Crop
Join April (April Showers) this Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On June 29th, we'll do a Stars Challenge! Create a layout using at least one star. It can be embellishments like brads, buttons, and stitching, brushes, or even a layout template. There are so many possibilities - have fun with it! Create your layout and upload it to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you! ScrapSimple Paper Templates

Do you ever find it a little daunting to think about creating your own paper with ScrapSimple products? Are you intimidated by Blending Modes? Do you struggle with the fear of determining just which papers would look great layered?
If you answered yes to these questions, then this tutorial is for you. Shalae Tippetts has created one of the most fun and easy ScrapSimple Papers that make creating your own papers foolproof. Let me show what I mean.
Take a look at the four papers we are going to use. These templates come from Shalae's ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Artist Papers 1 and ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Artist Papers 2.
First, open a new 12x12-inch document in Photoshop and drag the first ScrapSimple paper template onto the page. I love this paper because it has a big open space just perfect for a photo to be clipped onto or to be used as a journaling box.
I am going add my photo now so it will help as we watch this paper take form. But you could easily make your paper before adding your picture or journaling.
To clip my photo to the circle, I use my Magic Wand Tool and click on the circle (making sure the Anti-Alias box is unchecked). Now I see some "marching ants" around the circle. I right-click and choose "Layer via Cut" from the drop-down menu. Now I have a new layer in my Layers Palette. Next, I drag my photo above the new circle layer and hold down Ctrl+G to clip my photo to the circle.
I could easily add some color to my paper and some embellishments and be done, but where is the fun in that? I want to create an exciting background and, as I said before, these two products are easy and fun for just that. Shalae has created these papers to easily layer and add dimensions. They fit perfectly together! Let's go ahead and add the second template that was designed to fit over this first paper.
See, a perfect fit! Again, I could stop here, but I want something a little more uniquely mine. I'm going to add another overlay from the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Artist Paper 2 pack.
I am very happy with the results. But I am eyeing those journal strips on the other template, and I think I might want to add them to my layout as well. Because I want just the strips, I use my Magic Wand Tool to select them and my Move Tool to drag them onto my layout.
And viola! I have an awesome ScrapSimple paper that I created on my own by just layering papers and overlays. Now it's time to color the paper layers and add some embellishments to finish off the layout.

June Message Board Game: Re-JUNE-venate!
We helped you jumpstart your January and now it's time to re-JUNE-venate your focus on scrapbooking! Join us on the Forum this month for "Re-JUNE-venate!" This is a Meassage Board game and challenge that focuses on taking time to scrapbook regularly despite the little speedbumps of life. When the month is over, you'll have several completed layouts and will have been challenged and treated to some fun along the way... with prize opportunities thrown in as well!
A member of the Welcoming Committee will post a mini-challenge or task each day Monday through Saturday from June 1st - 30th. The tasks will be formatted in LARGE PURPLE FONT for ease of locating them in the game thread as it grows. Some tasks will require Message Board participation, email responses or gallery posting. Read each daily task carefully to see what is required of you.
Those who complete all tasks and submit or post required participation will be entered in a drawing to win one of three $10 Gift Certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Those who complete just the layouts will be entered in a drawing to win one of two $5 Gift Certificates. Those who complete just the speedbumps will be entered in a drawing for one of two $3 Gift Certificates. (Those who complete all tasks will have their name entered in all three drawings!)
