Great Quotes about Your Possibilities
"You cannot be anything you want to be – but you can be a lot more of who you already are." – Tom Rath (Strengths Finder 2.0)
"Most people think they know what they are good at. They are usually wrong... and yet, a person can only perform from strength." – Business guru, Peter Drucker
"The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are." – Joseph Campbell
"As the sculptor of your own life, you must systematically chisel away all the extra 'marble' that obscures who you really are." Unique Ability – Creating the Life You Want
"This is the true joy in life, the being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one; the being thoroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap; the being a force of nature instead of a feverish selfish little cloud of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy." – George Bernard Shaw
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be - brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a Child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Marianne Williamson, in A Return to Love (Quoted by Nelson Mandela in his 1994 inaugural speech)

Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.
Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to hello@scrapgirls.com. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!

What Are Layer Your Own Brushes?
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop Elements 7.0 with Windows XP.
One of the best parts of digital scrapbooking is the ability to create your own digital embellishments. Scrap Girls has made this easy for you with the ScrapSimple line of digital scrapbooking products. One of these ScrapSimple products is Layer Your Own Brushes. These brushes are different from regular brushes. Each brush in a set is created to be layered on top of each other to create a finished digital scrapbooking embellishment. They are so easy to use and give you the ability to create a new look and style every time!

ScrapSimple Layer Your Own Brushes: Ticket Stub Biggie
The ScrapSimple Layer Your Own Brushes: Ticket Stub Biggie lets you create a variety of ticket stubs by simply choosing which brushes you would like to layer on top of each other. To use them, simply install the brushes into your chosen software using the brush instructions found in the 1 Scrap Girls ScrapSimple Instructions Handbook (Free ScrapSimple basics eBook).

Once your brush is installed, select the base of the embellishment from your brush set. Select the color you would like the base to be. Resize it to the correct size and stamp it on a new layer.

Next, pick and choose which of the other layers you would like to add to your embellishment. Make sure that each new layer you stamp is on its own separate layer in the Layers Palette. This allows you to move, resize, recolor, or add filters or styles to the separate layers for additional effects. Slowly continue to build up your embellishment as much as you would like.

Once you get all the layers added to your embellishment, you can add digital scrapbooking papers to any layer. Here I used a clipping mask to clip a brown worn paper to the base layer. To create a clipping mask, put your digital paper above the layer you want it to clip to, then type Ctrl+G (or Ctrl+Alt+G in Photoshop). I also clipped a green paper to the solid area on the ticket. This gives the ticket more dimension and variation. You can also change the Blending Mode of any layer to create further effects.

Before you know it, you have created your own embellishment to be used on your digital scrapbooking layouts. These brushes are so easy to use and can be varied to create that unique embellishment you need for your digital layout.
Check out all the various types of Layer Your Own Brushes. I can guarantee you will find one that you can use endlessly in your digital scrapbooking layouts.

Using Scrap Girls Club Products to Create a Paper Bag Album
Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS5 on Windows Vista
Making gifts for friends is one of the best (and most fun) benefits of digital scrapbooking. There's just something awesome about creating a personalized gift that we know will be cherished by good friends and remind them of the fun times we spend together.
One of these great gifts is a personalized Paper Bag Album! And it's so easy to do - let me show you how!
First, gather your supplies:
I am using the guidelines from Amanda Fraijo-Tobin's ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates: Paper Bag Album 4.7 x 4.5 for my tutorial, as well as this month's Scrap Girls Club selection to create my layouts about a recent camping trip with my friends. I love how versatile the Jubilant Collection is. It lends itself to so many different subjects and works perfectly with my photos.
Start by printing out your layouts from your home computer, or having them printed at your favorite printing shop. Make sure the final sizes of the layouts are 4.75 x 4.5 inches so that they'll fit on the paper bags.
Hint: You can fit two of the 4.75 x 4.5-inch layouts onto one 8.5 x 11-inch sheet of paper (I used photo paper) to make printing at home easier.
Once your layouts are printed and cut out, it's time to assemble your paper bags. Included in Amanda's craft template are instructions on how to put the album together. They're super-easy to follow! Just open the paper bags, laying them flat on your work surface, and attach them together at the spine. Either hole-punch them and bind them together, or sew them together at the spine using a sewing machine, which is what I did.
After binding the pages together, you simply glue or tape the layouts to their respective pages. It's always a good idea to coordinate the facing pages so that the album feels more cohesive. Of course, when you're mainly using one digital scrapbooking collection, the coordination tends to happen naturally.
Then attach a ribbon to close the album - and you're done! Check out my mini album. I'm pretty excited to give it to my friend. I'm sure she's going to love it!
Oh, I almost forgot – if you're still not sure about tackling this hybrid craft (even though it's super easy!) and want to stick with all digital, you should definitely check out Sarah Batdorf's Paper Bag Album Paper Mini!
