Life Muses by Ro and Other Writings
A Designer’s Life: Shalae Tippetts

For the last month, I had the opportunity to relax with my husband and children during the Christmas break. Since my husband is a doctorate student, during this break we were able to enjoy two and a half weeks together as a family. During this time, I had a chance to read some incredible books on simplifying, as this has been a topic pressing on my mind lately. I often am the type of person that likes to do everything. I like to have my hand in everything and am often busy with obligations to too many people.

Life Muses by Ro: Accept Your Truth

I began scolding myself in my journal because I caught myself trying to be something I am not....

Life Muses by Ro: Which Shoe?

“Which shoe looks better, Dear?”

Best of the Scrap Girls Blog: Snow Story

Note from Ro: Amanda McGee’s post on the Scrap Girls Digital Scrapbooking Adventures blog is a great reminder that we need to tell the story we are scrapping about. Thanks, Amanda!

Life Muses by Ro: No Objections Here

One daughter's conversation....

Customer Muse: Truly Thankful

Sitting here, after the family departs, I have such mixed feelings.

My family comes together twice a year, for a week, at my house for a reunion in late June/early July and Thanksgiving. (If I get to see them at Christmas, it is a bonus, although it won’t be in the same setting.) Every visit brings such blessings of new grandchildren, great nephews and nieces. Six months makes such a difference!

Muse: To be absorbed in one's thoughts; engage in meditation. Not intended to solve the world's problems, another person's problems, or to cover topics completely. One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.

Note from Ro: Would you like to earn a $20 Gift Certificate? Send your own muse to [email protected]. If it is selected for publication in the Scrap Girls newsletter, you'll get to have fun shopping!

Ro is now spotlighting various Scrap Girls members, showing layouts, and running contests in her blog. If you end up being spotlighted in it, you'll get a little gift from her. Subscribe to her blog so you don't miss what is going on!

Ro has recently spotlighted Soozlou, mtorres_usa, and teabaglady!

Computer scrapbook layout by Caroline Kaiser

“You” by Caroline Kaiser

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:

I had this fun idea not to use Ursula Schneider’s ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates - Layered: Lots O Shots with lots of photos, but only with one photo. I duplicated the photo as many times as needed and clipped the different layers with Ctrl+G to the squares of the template. Finally, to some of the photos, I clipped a paper from Ursula Schneider’s Assemblage Collection Biggie with the Blend Mode set to “Multiply” and Opacity reduced to 82%.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:

The journaling on my frame was hard to read because of the pattern on the frame, so to make it more readable without losing the detail of the pattern, I used the Dodge Tool on the frame. The results are subtle, but effective.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:

To create the grey dotted background paper, I took Ursula Schneider’s charcoal paper from her Affaire de Coeur Collection and above that, placed a dotted paper, also from the same collection. Then I set the dotted paper’s Blend Mode to “Overlay” at about 25% Opacity.

Way Cool Stuff Digital Scrapbooking Product Review: ScrapSimple Paper Templates

Okay – admit it. Paper templates are intimidating, but aren’t they beautiful? When I first became a Scrap Girl and started hanging out around here, I was so impressed at the artistry that goes into paper templates, but scared to death to use them. So, today, I am going to share one of my favorite ways to use a paper template on a photograph and, frankly, it is way cool! I am creating this technique in Photoshop CS3.

Digital Scrapbook Tutorial: Making Greeting Cards Using 4x6 Easy Page Pro Albums

One of the great things in this digital age is the ease of creating greeting cards and stationery. I admit it; I am bad about sending cards for special events. So, with all of these beautiful digital scrapbooking supplies at my fingertips, I have no more excuses! I have found an easy way to create a card in minutes using the Easy Page Pro Album in the 4x6 size. In this tutorial, I will be using my French Market 4x6 Easy Page Pro Album.
