Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
The paper I wanted to use for my background from Pumpkin Eater Collection Biggie was a little too much in color, but the paper I was considering from Bamboozled Collection Biggie was not enough because it was mostly white. I put the white paper above the butter-colored paper then reduced the Opacity of the white paper until enough of the butter paper showed through to my liking.

Long titles can be a bit tricky to place in a layout. So instead of just running it straight across the page, I split the title into two parts. Using a different type of alpha for each part also helped create a more visually interesting title.
By the way, my title is from the song, I Could Not Ask For More by Sarah Evans. I'm not really a fan of country music but this song is just so beautiful in terms of lyrics and melody.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
My daughter, Charlotte, really wasn't the only dancer on the stage when I took this photo. First, I duplicated the photo and extracted her from the top layer. I then found another photo in the series that had a wide area of plain black curtain. I erased the stage portion and placed the curtain photo between the extraction of my daughter and the base photo, lining up the curtain's lower edges. I used the Patch Tool to remove the other dancers' feet and reflections from the stage area of the photo. Now Charlotte is the star of the show!

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I used ScrapSimple Type Paths: Waves 3801 for the curve of the title. I typed in my words in a color picked from the layout. Then I applied ScrapSimple Tools: Styles - Chipboard Edge 6301. The default edge size was way too big, so I reduced the Stroke size by clicking the fx icon on the layer. In the pop-up dialog box, I moved the slider down to 7 pixels.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I loved the look of Brandy Murry's faded ink style (Design Pack: Inked Text), but none of the colors seemed to match my layout as well as I would have liked. To make a better color match, I applied the style that most closely matched the look I wanted. Then I used the Eyedropper Tool to select a dark brown from one of the papers. I double-clicked the fx icon on the layer which I had added the inked style. This brought up a menu that allows you to customize (to an extent) the style. On the right-hand side of both the Inner and Outer Glow sliders, there are color boxes. I clicked the boxes and added the color from the foreground box which I selected before. Then I adjusted the Opacity sliders until I was happy with the color.

Journaling: Mary Poppins has been one of my favorite movies ever since I can remember. My favorite song is Feed the Birds. I love that it has a soothing tune and a beautiful message of caring. I truly believe that if we are kind to God's creatures, we can be kind to each other as well. That is precisely the kind of message with which I want to send my children to sleep.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
Using patterned paper for your main background can be a bit tricky. One way to "unbusy" a layout is to use a light-color paper or a no-pattern paper behind the area you want to highlight, which in most cases will be your photo. In this layout, rather than adding a plain strip of paper, I used the Shape Tool (set to Rectangle) to create a series of strips. Then I merged the layers and clipped a simple paper to them. Finally, I added a strip of bright plain paper beneath the light green paper. This section served as an anchor point for my image and embellishments.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
For this layout, I wanted to make a fun, light-hearted title. I had the idea to use some of the word art from Bamboozled Collection Biggie to place over the larger alpha from Going Home Collection Biggie. However, the words I needed for my title weren't in the collection. To fix that, I simply found the words I needed within other words that were in the collection. Then, using my Rectangular Selection Tool, I carefully drew around the part of the word that I wanted. Then, with the Move Tool selected, I hit Shift+Ctrl+I to inverse my selection, then I hit the Delete key. Doing so deleted all of the part of the word art that I didn't need, leaving me with perfect little word art tabs that fit my layout beautifully!

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To make this layout template work with my photos, I had to flip the photo spots, paper strips, and embellishments to the other side of my page. I selected all of the layers (Ctrl+Click) and then went to Edit> Transform> Flip Horizontal. This is an easy way to rotate just pieces of a digital layout template when you don't want to rotate the entire page.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I wanted to use the bright and playful paisley paper from the Life: Everyday Collection Biggie in my background. To balance the paisley pattern with the rest of the layout, I placed one of the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Transferred on top of it. Then I placed the Green Ornament paper from the Life: Everyday Collection Biggie over the paper template. Finally, I applied a clipping mask (Ctrl+G for PC, Cmd+G for Mac) on the Green Ornament paper to make it take the shape of the paper template.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I placed Shalae Tippetts' chrome swirl embellishment from her Biker Collection behind my photo frame cluster to add some style. I really liked the design element, but I did not like the harsh metal look on my layout. Thankfully, digital scrapbooking lets me easily change items to my liking with a few easy clicks. I decided to create a clipping mask. I placed a red paper from the same collection on a layer just above the chrome swirl embellishment. I then pressed Ctrl+G to clip the paper to the swirl, removing the chrome look and leaving me with a basic red swirl instead which I thought looked less distracting on this particular page.
