Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I used the ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates: 4x6 Brag Book by rotating the 4x6-inch template 180 degrees and positioning it in the top right corner of a 12x12-inch page. I lengthened the border and ribbon layers to cover the width of the larger page.

Journaling: The triplet cousins - Katie, Valerie and Annette - were born while my parents served a mission in Chile. They came home to three beautiful new granddaughters who soon became known as "the triplets."

I immediately think of quilts and other geometric designs when I see ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Year in Review. I designed the embellishment in its very own document using the full 12x12-inch version of the template and papers, then resized when I had all the layers clipped to the papers I chose to use. I also added the dragonfly to the center before resizing. I flattened all the layers and dragged the one layer over to my 12x12-inch layout. This would make a wonderful template for the many stained glass styles in the Boutique as well.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To create the background on this magazine cover, I placed a paper from ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Basically Bordered Squares 2 on my layout. Using my Rectangle Marquee Tool, I selected a center portion of the paper template and hit Delete. I deselected the selection and drew another one around the one side of the remaining paper template. This time, I used my Move Tool, while holding the Shift key, to slide the selected half up against the other side of the paper template. Now the paper fit my 8.5x11-inch layout without compromising the quality of the template.

Paper templates can be beautiful embellishments, and it's very fun to use them this way. For this layout, I wanted to work with the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Basically Bordered Hearts. I chose a heart and reduced the size to fit over the square. After that, I selected the Paint Bucket Tool and painted the heart with a dark green color. Finally, I selected the layer of the heart and used ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Painting Textures to add texture to the green heart.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I love to use the white space (or empty space) on my layouts. To gain more white space here, I used an 8.5x11-inch template that came with ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Layout Masks for my 12x12-inch layout. I placed the template so that its left edges and the left edge of my layout were aligned. I filled in the blank space of the background layer with my Paint Bucket Tool, and then I vertically stretched the rest of the layers so that they met the top and bottom edges of the layout. I only wanted to use one photo, so I deleted the photo mask layers of the template and placed my framed photo in that space.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
Instead of the basic stroke around my focal photo, I created a custom frame. First, I added a new layer above my photo layer. Then, I made a direct selection of my photo by pressing Ctrl while clicking on the layer thumbnail. Then, I went to Edit> Stroke to create a stroke on its own layer. I applied ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Precious Metal 11201 to the stroke layer to create the frame.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I enjoyed using the ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Year In Review to make my husband an anniversary card. I opened up a blank file in the size that I would need the card to be. I pulled over to that file the layers from the PSD file found with the ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Year In Review download. I linked the layers together then reduced the size by using the Move Tool and "grabbing" a corner and dragging. Then I deleted the portions of the layout template that I wouldn't need on the card.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I took two completely different ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates - ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Year in Review and ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: 12x12 Negative Space - and combined the two, removing some elements from each template. Then I built up my layout using papers, styles, and embellishments until I liked the look. I saved my PSD file as a JPG and resized it to fit the size of a CD case. I printed the layout, cut it out, and inserted it into a CD case that would hold the disk with our family photos of the current year.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
Using ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates is a quick way to create fabulous layouts in no time. Don't worry about thinking that your layout will look like everybody else who has the same template. The templates are in layered PSD files or separate PNGs, making it easy to customize the template to make it your own. You can rotate it, resize it, re-position or omit elements if you wish. You can also combine it with other ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates to create entirely unique designs.
In my layout, I used ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Tiny Tales together with ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Photo Clusters. First, I clipped my photos and background paper to the masks provided in the layout template. Then I resized it smaller in order to make room for the orange and blue borders. I also re-positioned the journaling and title placements. Next, I clipped several papers to the circles in the embellishment template, creating a dynamic cluster of circles around the focal point of my layout - the photos of my children. The last steps were to add my embellishments and journaling.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
For this layout, I decided to use the layout template ScrapSimple Digital Layout Templates: Timelines to make a background. When I opened the PSD template, I found eight block layers - four black blocks and four grey blocks. The first thing I did was to group the grey blocks in the Layers Palette, then I merged them all together into one layer. I repeated that for the black blocks. For each new layer that I had just created, I selected a paper from the Winsome Collection that would complement my photos. Then, I layered the chosen papers above each newly merged block layer. Using a clipping mask, I clipped each paper to the block layer beneath it. This allows the blocks to take on all the characteristics of the paper. Next, I layered a solid brown paper beneath all of that for my end result. Once that was all done, I locked all those layers together and decreased the overall size slightly. I selected another paper from the Winsome Collection and layered it at the very bottom of the palette so that it peeks from behind the background that was just made, making a pleasing border around the whole layout.
