Note from Heidi: This is such a great project! I loved it when Becca Hauck first showed it to me. I love how it can help kids of all abilities and backgrounds identify their emotions. Often, one of the hardest parts about growing up is learning what all those different feelings are and what to do with them! Maybe I should make one for myself, too. Chart Your Emotions

My son, Josh, has Asperger's Syndrome. At times, he has trouble reading the emotions of other people and expressing his own emotions. Last week, his therapist arrived for his weekly session with a small gift - a magnetic chart with different facial expressions of emotion and a marker to place on how Josh was feeling each day.

Right away, my thoughts turned to making a personalized one. Besides, Josh's sisters were going to want one of their own charts, too. And I knew that the Scrap Girls Boutique had just the products I would need for this project!

I started with four 5x7-inch, 300-dpi documents, and placed a photo of each of my children in the center. Around the photo, I stamped Ro's Brush Set: Emotions - Boys Biggie and Brush Set: Emotions - Girls Biggie in each child's favorite color.

Underneath each of those, I stamped the coordinating word from Brush Set: Emotions - Words Biggie.

I printed out each child's chart and the color-coordinated marker on magnetic paper. Using a craft knife and a ruler, I cut out the inner rectangle of the marker, so that the face and word would be seen.

Now each of my children has their very own chart!

ScrapSimple Card Templates

If you're anything like me, any time an occasion arises that needs a card, I prefer to make my own as opposed to buying one. And, once again if you are like me and you are time poor, a ScrapSimple Card Template is the way to go.

We are blessed here at Scrap Girls to have a fairly large choice of ScrapSimple Card Templates to choose from. In my examples here I have chosen to use ScrapSimple Card Templates: 4x6 Fancy Photo to create my cards.

As I use Adobe Photoshop CS4 as my scrapping program of choice, I love having a Photoshop or PSD file of the template already assembled and ready to use. I open the PSD of my choice and start to place my papers and elements onto the template. (Always remember to re-save your template with a new name so you don't save over the original template.)

The beauty of a ScrapSimple Card Templates is that you can reuse the template over and over again with a totally new look and aspect to the card each time you use it. Here, I rotated the card 90 degrees counter-clockwise and decided to use the elements of the card purely as a flexible guide to my layout.

June Message Board Game: Quotable Quotes

The object of the game is to correctly guess the layout (created by either a product designer or layout artist) that contains a quote or journaling. Each day, you will be given a word found in the clue. We will keep giving words to the clues until a correct guess is made.

Be the first to answer it correctly and win a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Boutique! You are only allowed ONE guess per daily clue, and you are only allowed ONE win per month. When you make your guess, you must link it to the correct layout in the Boutique. We will play the game daily during the entire month of June. When a correct answer is given, the new puzzle will start the following day.

Layout Contests:

June Monthly Layout Contest: June is National Candy Month and who doesn't like candy!? For this month's layout contest, use the wrapper of your favorite candy for inspiration. Does your favorite candy have a great color combination, cool fonts or a fun striped pattern? Use whatever inspires you about it to create your layout. You don't have to include the candy's wrapper in your layout but you might mention it in your description. Create your layout and post it in the June Layout Contest Gallery by Midnight MT on June 30th. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. If your layout is one of the two chosen, you will win a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used.
