The Other Side of Tomorrow

I want to be on the other side of tomorrow.

When I get there, I want to be scar free, fancy free, and care free. I want to dance in the wind, draw on the sidewalk, and laugh so hard that my pants hurt. I want to live in a spotless house, walk on a sidewalk without cracks, and never have to comb my hair. I want perfectly behaved children, cats that do not shed black hair on the couch, and a brand new wallet.

I want to be on the other side of tomorrow.

I want to close my eyes, go to sleep, and wake in the morning in a downy bed of cloudy white. I want to say everything well, smile everything better, and smooth everything over.

I want to be on the other side of tomorrow.

I want to be size 3, eat size 24, and exercise size 36. I want to sing in a choir without attending rehearsals. I want to paint like Van Gogh and keep both of my ears.

I want to be on the other side of tomorrow and get there without moving a muscle.

But life demands that I stand up, walk out of my door, open my mind, and think. Life will not allow me to escape this truth: Sometimes, it is necessary to force myself through tough walls of prickly people and pears. And sometimes it takes every soul thing I own to keep working harder, keep praying firmer, and to keep hanging onto the faith I believe is more durable than the crust that is holding me back today.

Effort is required if I am ever to arrive on the other side of tomorrow.

ORIGINAL QUESTION: I am trying to add text to my layout and after editing ScrapSimple Digital Layout Album Templates: 12x12 Photo Book 1 (I moved the template to a new file; I'm not using the actual template), I find all my fonts are typing in ALL CAPS. I have even tried adding text to other open files - all come up in ALL CAPS. Am I missing something here to turn this back off? (No, my keyboard is not set for ALL CAPS.)

ANSWER: It could be one of the text options. When you have the Text Tool on... near it should be where the "T" is in bold or other shapes, if I remember right, one of those makes your lowercase typing to be lower caps. I hope that helps. Or if you let me know exactly what program you use, I can be a lot more detailed.

ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTOR RESPONSE: I have Photoshop Elements 7. I've checked everything on the dashboard when Text is selected. I have a drop-down box for font, style and size, then tabs for anti-alias, bold, italic, underline, strikethrough, then the leading selector, then change warp, change direction, then finally, cancel and commit change buttons. Adobe help wasn't any help. Oh, I should add that I closed PSE and reopened, and it didn't help either. In my opening post, I was using regular and ALL CAPS typing. Did this to show the ALL CAPS on and off seems to work fine here online. I'm just stymied on this! I keep looking at all the buttons and tabs for the right answer. It all started when I went to edit text on the template. It was in ALL CAPS, but I didn't want my text to be, so I tried changing it. I usually can. Now all my fonts are ALL CAPS all the time. Thanks everyone, for the input given and yet to come!

ANSWER: I don't have the template so I am really just bumping this up, but is this happening on every layer or just the template text layer? Perhaps the text path is set to caps?

ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTOR RESPONSE: It happens on any layer, any file. I even opened a new blank file and got ALL CAPS.

ANSWER: Sounds like you're doing all the right things to check... the only other thing I can think of is that certain fonts only have caps, whether you type in caps or not. But it sounds like you have tried different fonts as well. I would probably reboot if you haven't; I know you said you restarted PSE, but try rebooting. Here is an answer I found when I did an online search:

It seems (TT) all caps button is enabled... to disable it in Photoshop, go to Window> Character now click on TT button in bottom of window; it should solve your problem.

ANSWER: Here is another answer I found:

"Check your Character Palette menu. It should be a drop down menu (at least in PSE6) that lists things like superscript, faux bold, underline, etc. There you'll find options for Caps. You most likely have "All Caps" selected. Just select it again to turn it off. Don't select "Small Caps" or you'll encounter the same problem, just with lowercase letters."

"Also in that same menu, you should find "Reset Character," which will reset the palette to its default options. That'll help if it is acting buggy and you can't figure out what’s wrong."

ORIGINAL CONTRIBUTOR RESPONSE: Someone else told me the same thing. Weird thing is, I opened a new template to start another layout and the text paths there were NOT all caps. I typed there fine, then went back to the messed-up one and it typed without all caps, too. Now to find that character palette...

Woohoo - I'm back in the saddle again!

ANSWER: Been following this thread in case this ever happens to me! Glad a solution has been found!

ANSWER: Another thing I learned... there apparently is no character palette in the Window drop-down in PSE 7. But this works: with Text Tool selected, click on the down arrow on the upper left of tool bar - just below "File". Click on "Reset Tool" and then the all caps goes away. So for instance, I type in the all caps text path and my next text use, wherever it is, will be in all caps. But if I reset tool before typing someplace else, it'll go back to normal. If there is another option, I'm sure it'll be given to us by more knowledgeable PSE users!

ANSWER: Glad you got it figured out!

April Message Board Game: Progressive Word Scramble!

The object of the game is to correctly guess the name of a product in the Scrap Girls Boutique by solving clues and unscrambling letters we give you. Each day, you will be given a letter found in the product name as well as a clue. You won't know how many letters are in the product name until it is complete. We will keep giving clues until a correct guess is made.

The designer's name or the word "Collection" are not included as part of the puzzle. Letters from any other words in product names (such as "Biggie," "Brush" or "Transparency") may be given as part of the puzzle.

Be the first to answer it correctly and win a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Boutique! You are only allowed ONE guess per daily clue, and you are only allowed ONE win per month. When you make your guess, you MUST provide a link to the boutique item you are referencing. We will play the game daily during the entire month of April. When a correct answer is given, the new puzzle will start the following day.

Layout Contests:

April Monthly Layout Contest: It's time to get your silly on! For this month's layout contest, we want to see layouts featuring the silly or mischievous antics in your life. Let us see the silly faces, crazy clothes and hilarious moments. Create your layout and post it in the April Layout Contest Gallery by Midnight on April 30th. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. If your layout is one of the two chosen, you will win a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
