Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
For this layout, I wanted a clean, modern look with a vintage touch. I stayed with neutral tones, solid papers, and a modern font to help achieve the look I was going for. One technique that I used for this layout was to apply ScrapSimple Tools - Actions: Sketch It PS 8501 Mini to the larger photo. I ran the photo action on the photo separately. Then I brought it onto my layout and sized it where I wanted it. Then, I changed the Blending Mode to "Luminosity" to get the look of the photo blended right into the paper. Lastly, I used a layer mask to paint away the unimportant parts of my photo, in this case, the solid, neutral-color wall. I opted to leave the louvered doors in the background behind my family to add texture and interest.

I had fun creating my own unique background on this layout using Assemble Your Own Zoom Pages: 4x6 Young Man. I took two of the 4x6 Zoom papers and resized them to my liking, placing them side-by-side across the page. Then, I continued to multiply the papers until I had a pattern filling the whole layout. Next, I placed a paper from the Australia Collection on top of my newly created pattern. I selected the "Screen" Blending Mode for the paper layer. Finally, I added a few embellishments to give it the finishing touches I was looking for. And voilĂ ! Now I have a perfect background to go with the theme of my page.

Journaling: You had a very unexpected and unwanted greeting during our first visit to the Natural Bridge State Park. As we looked over the rock wall at the creek below, Daddy pointed out a snake sunning itself on the rock below. All of a sudden you jumped back from the wall as fast as you could yelling "SNAKE, SNAKE!" We looked at you and thought, "Yes, that's what Daddy was pointing out, but it is so far down, why are you so panicky??" That is when we noticed the other snake on the wall right where you were standing. It was right at your eye level and would have easily scared anyone who wasn't expecting a snake to pop up in their face. Luckily, it wasn't a dangerous snake, but the rest of the trip you told everyone how you almost Died!

My original photos were a little underexposed, so I wanted to brighten them up a bit. This is so easy to do in Photoshop! First, open your photo and then Ctrl+J to duplicate it on a new layer. On the top layer, select "Screen" for the Blending Mode. This will instantly lighten the image. Adjust the Opacity as needed for the desired look

Using ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Cookie Swap 6101 Biggie, I made the easiest cookies ever! First, I created a circle. Second, I applied one of the cookie styles. Yum! Third, I carefully erased portions of my cookie to look like bites had been taken out of it. Finally, I created little cookie crumbs by using a small circle brush, making little marks around the cookie area, and applying a cookie style to the crumbs. Voila! So quick, so easy, and best of all? It's calorie-free!

To give this layout a more personalized look, I left most of the journaling blocks blank and filled them in with fine point markers in coordinating colors after I assembled the album.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To slice up your photo, just position your frames and place two copies of your photo on the layers below the frames. Then, with one of the frame layers active, use the Magic Wand Tool to make a selection ("marching ants") by clicking on the empty space inside the frame. Expand this selection by around 40 pixels (Select> Modify> Expand). Invert the selection (Select> Inverse), and hit Delete. Repeat the same steps for the other frame.
