If You Can't See It, Is It Gone?

My office had spiraled out of control. I have this inexplicable need to see everything I'm working on so that I won't forget about my projects. But over time, I get so many projects going at once that I can't see what I'm doing.

Finally, my office was as cluttery as my mind was, so in the spirit of ONE, I cleaned up my office up and have given myself a new rule:

ONE project at a time = ONE project out at a time

I have a whiteboard behind my office door. I made lists of things I want to do, things I hope to do, and things I have to do on it. I made another list of things that I want help with, just in case my angels read whiteboards and decide that they want to pitch in a little.

My new whiteboard solution for project tracking is so much better for me than trying to keep to-do lists in my notebooks or on the computer. I forget to look at those lists because I can't see them staring at me. I can SEE the whiteboard on my wall so my need to "see" everything seems to have been satisfied.

Yippee!

My goal is to keep it going ONE day at a time.

Getting Creative with Digital Paint!

As a child, I remember it was great to have a new, crisp white piece of paper to paint anything I could dream of! As a mom, I love to see my kids having this same attitude - the only drawback is the mess! Messy hands, messy table, and even with washable paint, somehow the clothes just never were the same afterwards.

That's why I love using digital paint! By using products such as Brush Set: Paint Strokes 11001 Biggie, ScrapSimple Layer Your Own Brushes: Starry Hearts and Brush Set: Leaky Stamp Super Biggie, I can make my layouts look like I hand-painted them, but without the mess.

Digital brushes are super-fun to use, and digital paint brushes are even more fun! Just like any ordinary brush, there are endless ways to adjust the brushes and change the look of your paint.

By lowering the Opacity, you have a more dreamy, soft, watercolor look, and with a high Opacity, it looks like a nice, thick acrylic paint.

By adjusting the Blending Modes, you can adjust how the paint seems to "soak" into the paper.

You can layer your brushed paint strokes to make it look as though you used multiple swipes of the brush.

By combining these techniques and experimenting with the different settings and Opacities of your digital paint brushes, you can create really fun backgrounds and accents on your digital scrapbooking projects!

Join April (April Showers) each Wednesday at 10am MT for the East Coast High Noon Crop. All coasts and time zones are welcome! These crops are designed to allow you to work on your own photos and themes simply giving participants a one hour goal and a fun, new challenge each week. On April 14th, we'll have a Single Photo Challenge. Create a layout using a single, large, wonderful photo! Upload your layouts to the special High Noon Crop Gallery. You'll be amazed what you can get done in just one hour, but there is no High Noon Sheriff timing you!

APRIL EVENTS

April Message Board Game: Progressive Word Scramble!

The object of the game is to correctly guess the name of a product in the Scrap Girls Boutique by solving clues and unscrambling letters we give you. Each day, you will be given a letter found in the product name as well as a clue. You won't know how many letters are in the product name until it is complete. We will keep giving clues until a correct guess is made.

The designer's name or the word "Collection" are not included as part of the puzzle. Letters from any other words in product names (such as "Biggie," "Brush" or "Transparency") may be given as part of the puzzle.

Be the first to answer it correctly and win a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Boutique! You are only allowed ONE guess per daily clue, and you are only allowed ONE win per month. When you make your guess, you MUST provide a link to the boutique item you are referencing. We will play the game daily during the entire month of April. When a correct answer is given, the new puzzle will start the following day.

Layout Contests:

April Monthly Layout Contest: It's time to get your silly on! For this month's layout contest, we want to see layouts featuring the silly or mischievous antics in your life. Let us see the silly faces, crazy clothes and hilarious moments. Create your layout and post it in the April Layout Contest Gallery by Midnight on April 30th. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the EXIF Properties. If your layout is one of the two chosen, you will win a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!

Club Concepts Layout Contest: Post your new layout using the current club selection (either the Scrap Girls Club or the ScrapSimple Club) in our Scrap Girls Club Members Gallery or the ScrapSimple Club Members' Gallery. Be sure to list all of the Scrap Girls products you used. If your layout is chosen, it will be showcased as a Club Concepts layout winner, and you will win a $5 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
