"Great or just fine?" he pushes.

"OK, look... I'll take your photo. You can look at yourself and then decide." I suggest.

"OK. Take me in this... now this... how about this?" he continues. "Let me see them!"

I show him the photos.

"OK... one more... how about this one?" he asks yet again.

"Steve... Steve... Steve? What the heck? Where are you?" I ask.

Aha! Can you find Steve?

ScrapSimple Tools - Styles

I want to share how easy and cool it is to create your own custom embellishments using styles. I was completely thrilled to see the sun-catcher brushes and stained glass styles by Amanda Sok and Valerie Randall and knew I wanted to use them.

Begin by placing papers and a few embellishments onto the layout. On a new layer, add the turkey brush from the Brush Set: Suncatchers – Harvest. With the turkey layer selected on the Layers Palette, use the Magic Wand Tool to select the interior portions that you want to be the same color. Next, create a new layer below the turkey (with the "marching ants" still active) and fill the selection with 50% gray. (Go to Edit> Fill Selection and then select the color.) You can also use the Paint Bucket Tool.

With the new filled layer selected, choose a style from the ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Cathedral Glass 6401 Biggie. Continue to select portions of the turkey as described above and fill them using the styles.

When I get to the beak of the turkey, the yellow glass style I want to use from ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Opalescent Glass 6401 Biggie is not as yellow as I want. To solve this, I apply the style to the beak layer and go to Layer> Layer Style> Scale Effects. A pop-up window appears and I adjust the slider until I have the look I want.

After filling all of the facets of the sun-catcher, add the leading effect from the ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Wires 6401 to the turkey outline and the chain that is included in the brush set.

I repeat this process for the other sun-catchers I want to use on my layout.

Finally, I want to add a shadow style to the sun-catchers, but because I want the entire shape to have a single shadow and not each individual layer, I need to merge the layers. This can present problems when you have used multiple styles. To avoid this, simplify each layer before merging them together. This is called "Rasterizing" in Photoshop. To simplify the layers, right-click (or Ctrl+click) on each layer on the Layers Palette and select "Simplify Layer" from the menu.

Merge the layers of each sun-catcher together and add a large drop shadow from Sarah Batdorf's ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Basic Shadows 6501.

We're taking your ABC game skills to a whole new level this month... and tacking on some prizes as well! This month's message board game is "The Alphabet Hunt." Every few days, we'll give you a new theme and a searching task and then set you loose to start building our list in alphabetic order! Find the specifics about game play in the November Message Board Game thread in the Monthly Message Board Game folder on the Scrap Girls forum.

For each item you correctly add to our alphabetic list in the game thread on the message board, your name will be entered into a drawing which will be held at the end of the month. Five winners will be drawn and each will win a $5 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls boutique! Additionally, the person with the most correct contributions to the game will automatically win a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap GIrls boutique! Participation is what counts big this month, so join us on the message board for the detailed rules, search specifics and LOTS of fun!
