What's For Supper?

I recently stumbled upon a recipe for tuna patties that I had shared with some friends last winter. Before then, I hadn't made it for years. Honestly, I wasn't sure how my kids were going to respond to it because they can be picky. I was afraid they would say, "Gross!" as soon as they saw the plate.

But, that's not what happened. Everyone loved the meal and the only criticism I heard was, "You should have made bigger ones." I was asked to make them again.

Guess what's for supper tonight?

RECIPE

2 cans tuna
1/2 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup fine bread crumbs
2 tablespoons onions (I chopped up a couple of green onions.)

Shape into patties and fry on both sides until brown. Warm up the rest of the mushroom soup to use as gravy for the patties.

Creating Chipboard Photo Frames

Note: Tutorial created using Adobe Photoshop CS3 with Mac OS X.

It seems like I'm constantly creating frames for my photos while digital scrapbooking. It's an easy way to bring patterns and textures of background papers into my layouts. I'm going to show you how to do it.

Select the photo you wish to frame, making sure it is the size you want. I am using a 5x7 inch photo. Drag it onto the background paper that you want to create your frame from.

With the Marquee Tool selected, draw a box roughly an inch or two bigger than your photo. I usually just eyeball it by trying to get it as even as possible around all four sides. You will see the thin marching ants outline around the photo.

With the Move Tool selected and with your background paper layer active, put the cursor within the marching ant rectangle. You should see it change to scissors, which implies that you are going to cut the paper out.

Click and drag the frame onto the document where you will create your digital scrapbooking layout.

Now, we are going to cut out the inside of the frame.

If you haven't already, drag the photo onto the layout as well. Put it on a layer beneath the frame and set the frame Opacity to 35%.

Center the paper over the photo. (If you just need to nudge it, you can do this easily by using the arrow keys on the keyboard.) Select the Marquee Tool and draw a rectangle just inside the edges of the photo.

Making sure the frame layer is active, hit Delete and return the frame layer to 100% Opacity.

Using ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Chipboard 1801 Mini, apply a chipboard style to the frame.

Use this simple technique to make all sorts of sizes, colors and patterns of unique chipboard frames. You can also frame journaling or embellishments as well as photos.

October Message Board Game: Posting Challenge

It's time to put those fingers to the test and get chatty. This month, everyone who posts at least 250 times will have their name entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates to be used in the Scrap Girls Boutique. In addition, the one member who posts the very most in October will receive a $10 Gift Certificate! To be included in this month's game, you must post to the October Posting Challenge thread in the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the message board and include your starting post count as of Thursday, October 1st. October Monthly Layout Contest: You might be a city girl or maybe a country girl, but even those that live in the city can enjoy time spent in the country. For the October Layout Gallery Contest, we want you to scrap a page about time spent in the country. It could be a visit to a farm, or a state or national park, or maybe you live in the country. Create your layout and post it in the October Monthly Layout Contest Gallery by Midnight on October 31st. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the details tab. October Mid-Month Layout Contest: Anniversaries are very special times. For the October Mid-Month Gallery Contest, we want to see your layouts about an anniversary. It doesn't have to be a wedding anniversary. Birthdays are anniversaries too. Anything that you remember annually is an anniversary.
