Swallowing My Pride

Time for another layout-creating confession: Multiple photo layouts are hard for me to do. My mind blows up when I try to arrange the photos on the canvas. It takes me a long time to figure out the puzzle that multiple photos present and when I try solving it, I become discouraged. I have been avoiding making layouts that require multiple photos to tell the story because I hate the "I feel stupid" feeling I get as I wrestle with the problem.

What to do?

After I sat here and thought about my problem, I remembered that we have lots of multiple photo digital layout templates in the boutique. When I remembered the templates, I felt silly because I've been suffering without cause. Our product designers have been providing roadmaps for multiple photo layouts with the templates, but I've been letting my pride get in the way. I wanted to figure it out on my own.

Only, I wasn't doing it on my own. My files have filled up with thousands of photos that need to be used on multiple photo layouts.

Want to know what's worse? I actually TEACH how to use these templates in my tutorial series, MORE Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed (available for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements). I haven't been following my own advice!

Big breath.

Okay, so I've learned a lesson. I'm going to use the templates to make multiple photo layouts more often. I promise.

I decided to start with a very simple one so that I could finish it quickly. I pulled some photos out of my files and searched for the supplies I wanted to use on the layout. Once I found a template, I selected a paper that looks like a kitchen towel. Then, I added a little journaling and called it good. The paper adds plenty of interest, so I didn't need to add embellishments. I think it works.

Today, I told an important family story though a multiple photo layout. Gary makes our family breakfast every Saturday. If I didn't retell this story, I would be missing a piece of our lives that we all enjoy very much. As he cooks, Gary shows us that he loves his family. What could be more important than reminding his children (and grandchildren) how much he cares? After all, that's what digital scrapbooking is all about!

How to Get Started Making Computer Scrapbooks

In this computer age, computer scrapbooking is more and more becoming the way of the future. In fact, the future is here. So is computer scrapbooking. With digital cameras becoming so popular and making it easy for you to upload your pictures onto your computer, you can create a computer scrapbook page in the time it takes to do the laundry. So get yourself familiar with the terms "computer scrapbooking" and "digital scrapbooking," they are interchangeable, and you are about to embark on a computer scrapbook adventure.

Computer scrapbooking is exactly what it sounds like; You use your computer to make a scrapbook. To get started making your computer scrapbook you will need:

A computer.
A computer software program that can create graphics, or edit photographs.
Photographs.
Computer scrapbook papers and embellishment supplies. Computer scrapbooking supplies are inexpensive, and can be used over and over again, creating a great value.

Computer scrapbooks are often made using Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Photoshop Elements, or Paint Shop Pro software programs. To become a computer scrapbooker you can download a free trial version of the Adobe Photoshop software to start your first computer scrapbook. Test out these software programs then buy the one you like. Versions of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Paint Shop Pro are inexpensive, and you will use it for years.

Computer scrapbooks are fast to create, inexpensive, and fun. Creating a computer scrapbook is like playing a game. Using your mouse to arrange gorgeous computer scrapbooking papers, pretty embellishments, and photographs on your computer screen is like decorating a piece of art.

Computer scrapbooking is artwork that you can share with your friends and family. Upload your completed pages to online galleries, send your computer scrapbooking layouts in emails, have your computer scrapbook pages printed, or bound into books.

Your computer scrapbooks make treasured gifts for birthdays, graduation, retirement, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas, and other holidays. It's time to put those fingers to the test and get chatty. This month, everyone who posts at least 250 times will have their name entered in a drawing for one of five $5 Gift Certificates to be used in the Scrap Girls Boutique. In addition, the one member who posts the very most in October will receive a $10 Gift Certificate! To be included in this month's game, you must post to the October Posting Challenge thread in the Monthly Message Board Games folder on the message board and include your starting post count as of Thursday, October 1st. Once you have reached 250 posts during the month of October, email Ang at [email protected] and include your forum user name, starting post count and your new post count total. Layout Contests:

October Monthly Layout Contest: You might be a city girl or maybe a country girl, but even those that live in the city can enjoy time spent in the country. For the October Layout Gallery Contest, we want you to scrap a page about time spent in the country. It could be a visit to a farm, or a state or national park, or maybe you live in the country. Create your layout and post it in the October Monthly Layout Contest Gallery by Midnight on October 31st. Be sure to list your credits in the description or under the details tab. If your layout is chosen, you will win a $10 gift certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!

September Mid-Month Layout Contest: Everybody has some one or something in their life that has made a difference for them. For the September Mid-month Gallery contest, we want you to scrap a page about someone or something that has been a positive influence in your life.
