Recently, we enjoyed a summer rain. While it was pouring buckets on one side of our house, it was bright and sunny on the other; the recipe for a perfect rainbow.

My son, Max, was so excited. He noticed it first. He exclaimed, "Mom! There's a RAINBOW!" It was a good one. It stretched from the backyard to the front and when he stood underneath it I said, "You're the pot of gold at the end of my rainbow!"

The elusive gold at the end of the rainbow has been found. It's my son's golden locks!

The job involves:

Developing interesting and creative classes
Creating detailed PDFs for each class using either Adobe's InDesign or Serif’s Page Plus
Timely interaction with students in both chat room and forum situations
Providing kind and constructive feedback on student gallery homework
Timely and consistent creation and scheduling of classes

Candidates should have the following skill sets:

Comprehensive knowledge of Photoshop and/or Photoshop Elements - ability to easily handle questions that arise regarding their particular software area of expertise.
Excellent layout design ability
Attention to detail is a must
Excellent communication skills
Ability to handle fast-paced chat room situations
Warm and friendly personality

Applicants will be required to audition for this paid position using a class that they've developed.

ScrapSimple Card Templates

I love making cards. I always have. I think it is more personalized than buying a Hallmark card that someone else has created. I can't remember the last time I actually bought a card and I know that when I give a card I have made myself, it is appreciated more by the receiver as they see the effort I have gone to for them. The beauty of making my own cards is that there is such a big selection of ScrapSimple Card Templates in our very own Scrap Girls boutique - each card I make turns out to be unique.

In this example, I use Valerie Randall's ScrapSimple Craft Templates: 4.5x6.25 Vertical Card and Envelope to make my card. This year is a very busy year for us, with all of our daughter's friends celebrating their bat mitzvah's, so I decided to design a card that we could use every time we have a celebration to attend. This template is very easy to use. There is a front template, an inside template and an envelope template. You create your card the same way you would any other layout, except that the template shows you where the front is as well as the layout orientation. Included in this particular set is also a template for the inside of the invitation, showing you where the fold and cut marks are so you can print out the card double-sided.

In this example, I use Jan Hicks' ScrapSimple Craft Templates: 5x7 Greeting Card Gift Set. As you can see, I have used the same elements as the previous example, but have all the templates already set for me. All I have to do is choose the elements and place them where the templates are placed and voila, another card to use.

Finally, the beauty of the envelope template is that you can create an envelope that matches your card perfectly. I LOVE making matching envelopes; it just finishes off the whole project with finesse and continuity.

August Message Board Game: Embellishment Hunters!

Calling all adventurous souls! Join us for the August Message Board game - Embellishment Hunters! This month, we're playing an old game with a new twist and hope you'll join us for fun and of course... prizes!

Your task is simple! Imagine a dartboard with 100 targets. To find the target hiding the embellishment of the day, simply guess a number between 1 and 100. The first person to guess the correct number is the daily winner and will be showered with applause and will proudly enjoy bragging rights PLUS the possibility of prizes at the end of the month!

All daily winners will be included in a month-end drawing with prizes including one $10 gift certificate and five $5 gift certificates to the Scrap Girls Boutique! Visit the Monthly Message Board Games Forum on the message board for specific rules and instructions about game play.
