Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
I wanted to put my main photo in a grouping of tags. I decided to use the tags from Amanda McGee's ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Price Tags Biggie. I brought in four different tags, resized them to fit my photo, then added drop shadows to each tag before merging the four tag layers together. Next, I clipped the photo to the tags using a clipping mask (Ctrl+G). I adjusted the Blending Mode to “Vivid Light” and changed the Opacity to 56%. It made the photo pop with fun, bright color, and the texture of the tags was still visible.

There are many different ways to add color to ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates. In this layout, I used Brandy Murry's ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Bows To Go I. I wanted make the bow a soft blue to complement my page. I loved the color of Brandy Murry's Back Porch Collection Biggie - Time Paper, so I layered the paper on top of my bow template and used a clipping mask (Ctrl+G). Next I played around with Blending Modes until I got my desired look. In this example, I used “Hard Light.”

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To make the tape embellishments look very realistic over the items they are taping down in the layout, I selected the Burn Tool. Then, using an Opacity of about 75%, I darkened the areas of the tape layer that would be pressed down onto the item by just "painting" over the area.

Journaling: On your year-end field trip in 3rd grade, you took sketch books to the lake. You sat on the rocks and I could see in your contentment that you were enjoying the time to reflect, to dream and to create. It was lovely to see you at peace and grounding yourself.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To create the photo across the tags, I first dragged one of Valerie Randall's ScrapSimple Tools - Shapes: Tags 2101 onto my layout. I sized it to my liking and simplified the layer. On a new layer, I created a photo mat by drawing a rectangle with my Marquee Tool and filling it in gray with the Paint Bucket. I sized and centered it over the tag layer. I linked the mat and the tag layer, duplicated them three times, and arranged them on my layout. Then I duplicated the photo four times, linked them, and placed each photo layer over a mat layer in the Layers Palette. Then I used a clipping mask (Ctrl+G for PC, Cmd+G for Mac) to make the photos take the shape of the mats. Finally, I applied Cheryl Barber's ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Glossy Super Biggie 4102 to the tags.

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
To place the photo of my husband into the envelope, I used Sarah Batdorf's ScrapSimple Tools - Actions: Stacked Photos PS Mini 6501 to duplicated the photo a number of times. I then placed the envelope from Syndee Nuckles' Camille's Garden Collection Mini on top of the photo layer. I added a layer mask and, using my Paint Brush and setting the foreground color to black, I "erased" the part of the envelope that was covering the photos. To erase part of your image and "keep in the lines" so to speak, I reduce the Opacity of the top layer that is being "erased" so that I can see the layer underneath. Once I was happy with what I had erased, I brought the Opacity of the layer back up to 100%.

I created the tag in this layout using the PNG file included in the Brush Set: Basic Tag as a clipping mask. Similar to a die cut in paper scrapping, I used the tag to "cut out" the patterned paper in the same shape as the tag.

I love the little jewels in Brandy Murry's French Linen Collection Biggie and knew I wanted to incorporate them on my layout somehow. But I couldn't quite figure out where to put them. Then finally it dawned on me to duplicate the pink jewel and put it on the corners of the frame. Now my layout has a little sparkle and a unique frame!

Directions for one technique I did on this layout:
Rather than apply a clipping mask to the frames, I simply used Amanda Sok's ScrapSimple Tools - Styles: Painted Plastic 6401 Super Biggie. It provides just a touch of bright color without making the layout appear too heavy.
