Scrap Girls Event - 4th Anniversary Week!

Scrap Girls is turning FOUR years old! Yippee! We are having a party to celebrate... and YOU get the presents! Join us for a week of fun-filled classes, crops, challenges, games, and events. We've got prizes galore to hand out, so check out some of these great events!

Whack-a-Witch (a Whack with a Twist!)

Want to make a fun Halloween layout? Or make a silly page with one of your Scrap Girls friends? Well we have the event for you! The game is called, “Whack-A-Witch.” It is very simple.
Just download this goofy picture of either witch and do whatever you want with it in a layout. This is very similar to the Whack-a-Ro contests we’ve had in the past... but this time you get to pick who you would like to star in the role of the witch. As long as you don't do anything obscene or something which would offend Ro’s morals (she’s fairly conservative, so remember that), you'll be okay. She has a great sense of humor so silly is good.
In fact, silly is very good.
When you have completed your layout, upload it to the special gallery we have set up: Scrap Girls 2008 Anniversary Party Gallery. Also, post the link to your layout in the thread found in the Scrap Girls Anniversary Party 2008 Forum, Major Event: Whack-a-Witch. Deadline to post your layout is Midnight MST Wednesday, October 22nd.
The person that makes the funniest layout will win the prize, which will be a $33.33 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!

Life Muses by Ro: A Peace That Defies Logic |
A peace that defies logic.
I understand that I am supposed to feel scared. I have been told that I am supposed to be worried. I think I should feel that my life will implode if I make a false step. I hear the hum of humanity sound with nervous energy that should infect my pores with the electricity and cause my teeth to clamp.
And yet, I feel as calm as a cat looking out of a bright warm window. I feel as peaceful as twinkling stars hanging over a small town in a quiet valley. I feel as clear as fresh water in a glass sitting on a white marble counter.
I think I have been waiting for this moment for a long time. I believe that even though I didn’t know it, the winding path I have walked has propelled me forward to this very spot. I am coming home to find warm bread, fresh from the oven, sitting on the counter next to a bottle of strawberry jam.
I will be meeting friends I do not know and yet know very well. I will look at their faces and see in their hearts and will smile at the recognition that occurs when souls are brought together.
No, I am not worried. I am not afraid. I have peace winding through my spirit, round my heart, through my lungs and out my fingers which are waiting to grasp the hands of new friends.

P.S. I wrote this the night prior to our convention. I realized this morning that it applies perfectly to my upcoming adventures in our new home. I’ve never felt like I fit in our old neighborhood. The people are very nice, good, outstanding folks, but I think that we weren’t supposed to move there. Because the house was a mess, we had to work our way out of it. It took 11 years of hard work and sacrifice to repair it. After all of that work, we were expecting to move, but it came to all of us at the same time that we were supposed to move.
Walking into this new house felt like coming home. It felt just like when we bought our California home years ago and we were very happy there. The feeling is such a relief that I feel like laughing and crying all at the same time. It really doesn’t make logical sense that we jumped off this particular cliff, but here we are. The peace we felt during the decision making process was so keen that we decided to trust it.
Life is interesting, isn’t it?

One does not have to agree with musings to enjoy them, just as one does not have to be the same as someone else to appreciate who they are.

There are lots of wonderful products in the boutique that were designed especially for the soccer theme. Let’s have a look at them!
When I created the layout “Soccer Girl” for Amanda McGee’s daughter, Maddy, it was important to me to match the colors of the elements I used to the colors of her shirt, her shoes, and the ball. There are many ways to match the colors of the papers and embellishments to your photos. By using ScrapSimple Paper Templates, you can choose exactly the color that you want for your layout. You can also clip colored papers to them, use brushes to create backgrounds or apply textures to colored layers.
These products are perfect for this purpose:
Another way to match the colors is to take elements from the designer’s collection and enhance the colors. A background that is orange can be changed to any color of your choice. You can also selectively replace colors of the background and embellishments. Just play around a bit. There are endless possibilities.
Here are some other products that I would suggest for a colorful layout with your soccer pictures.
There are certainly many more. Think about the colors you want to use and any collection containing these colors will be perfect for your layout. To add the final touch, you just have to place some soccer details from the existing products.

Scrap Girls is looking for a qualified digital scrapbooking teacher to teach Photoshop Elements classes. Teachers are required to create class PDFs which are reviewed prior to class. Teachers have complete flexibility in scheduling classes.
Candidates must have strong skills in Photoshop Elements as well as strong layout design skills. Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus. They must be warm and friendly, comfortable handling fast-paced chat room situations, and able to easily handle questions that arise regarding their particular software area of expertise.
Candidates will be required to audition for this paid position. There will be a list of topics available from which classes can be developed, however the teachers are encouraged to present their own ideas for approval as well.

ATC Swap Crop
Sunday, October 26th - 7:00PM ET
Please join me, Pat Bowman, in the chat room for our October ATC Swap Chat at 7PM ET. The theme for this month's swap will be “Make Believe.”
1. Create your ATC with your interpretation of the theme. Your original ATC file should be 3.5 inches x 2.5 inches or 1050 pixels x 750 pixels(can be portrait or landscape orientation) at 300 pixels per inch. Be sure to sign and date your ATC - real name and user name (unless they're the same, of course!) Post your ATC to the gallery here, as well, to share with all of our members.
2. Email the full res, flattened JPG version and a text file with the ingredients to me by November 15th. ([email protected]). Please include your initials at the beginning of the filename to help me keep track of everyone's ATCs.
3. I will zip them all together and provide a download link on YouSendIt for everyone to download the file. I will email the link to everyone, and will try to do this by the 20th of that month. Have fun exploring your creative genius!
Aussie Recipe Chat
