Scrap Girls Event - 4th Anniversary Week!

Scrap Girls is turning FOUR years old! Yippee! We are having a party to celebrate... and YOU get the presents! Join us for a week of fun-filled classes, crops, challenges, games, and events. We've got prizes galore to hand out, so check out some of these great events!

Watch the message board Saturday morning for a Scrap Girls crossword puzzle. You will find the puzzle and clues along with the email address to send answers to posted on the message board in our Scrap Girls Anniversary Party 2008 forum!

These sixteen images came from the layout examples of various products in the Scrap Girls Boutique. Be the first one to correctly identify what they are and win a $25.00 Gift Certificate! Here are the rules:
- Hunt for the images in the Boutique.
- Send a message to [email protected] with the subject line: “Needle in a Haystack.” Include in your email the name of the product where you found the photo and a link to its page for each of the sixteen images.
- Go out to the message board and find the Scrap Girls Anniversary Party 2008 forum.
- Find the thread called, “Game Time! Needle in a Haystack!” Post a message saying that you have entered the game.
As soon as someone guesses correctly, Angela will announce the winner in the forum. This one is kinda hard and so it will probably take a while! (Muahahha!)

Customer Muse: A Pair of Princesses |
Have you ever had your living room ransacked by a pair of brunette princesses? I have.
Today, as I was trying to cook supper, two munchkin princesses entered my living room and proceeded to destroy it. It looked like a tornado just blew through the palace and the princess' closet threw up on my living room rug. Pink tulle and lace, Mardi Gras beads, plastic pumps, purple feather boas and, of course, the ever present tiaras! Unfortunately, I had my very unroyal hands in raw chicken and I could do nothing to stop the royal destruction.
As I was trying to cut chicken, Princess Betsy Grace insisted that I help her put on her princess dress, which she reminded me was from a yard sale. I don't even know how she remembers that! What she doesn't know is that EVERY princess dress she has is from a yard sale. I guess princesses don't appreciate yard sale bargains and they don't let you forget it. I was annoyed because I had to stop what I was doing, wash my salmonella-covered hands and then struggle to pull the too-small princess dress over her head. As always, Princess Scarlett had to do the same thing as her big sister, so, once again, I became the princess's maid.
After the princesses were suitably dressed and ready for their ball, Princess Scarlett decided to stand between me and the stove with her arms up saying, “Hold me, hold me, hold me.” What she really wanted me to do was hold her while I danced. These princesses sure are lazy these days. They have to be held while someone else does the dancing. What is this kingdom coming to?
My first thoughts were, “I can't do this right now. I'm trying to make supper! Can't you see that? Nobody eats around here unless the Queen makes it happen. Whine, whine, whine.” My next thought was, “Wait a minute, Jennifer. How long will your sweet princesses hold their arms up to you? Will they always say, ‘Hold me, hold me, hold me?’ Will they remember the chicken recipe I cooked this night or will they remember the fact that I stopped what I was doing to dance with my princesses?”
Then, it hit me! There will come a day when I no longer have princess paraphernalia all over my living room floor and my princesses will no longer wish to dance with me. I have every night for the rest of my life to cook a great dinner. I only have probably a few short years before the princess balls, dresses, beads and boas get traded in for computers, cell phones and friends. Forget supper, raw chicken and the recipe I am TRYING to follow. Drop it all and go to the ball! I washed my hands, picked up my princess and danced to “We've Only Just Begun” by the Carpenters. That just happened to be the song that my CD player shuffled to, which fit the moment well.
At the ball, both princesses were vying for slow dance rights. Slow dance, according to Betsy Grace, is when the princess is picked up and sashayed around like the princess she is. Karen Carpenter (one of my all-time favorites) is singing, “We've only just begun to live...” and my next thought was, “How true. You've only just begun to live when you drop it all and go to the ball with your munchkin princesses. Besides that, how often do you get to be a 35-year-old stay-at-home mama AND a PRINCESS?”

1. What program do you use to digital scrapbook?
Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0
2. Tell us the make and model of digital camera that you use.
I use a Canon PowerShot SD850. I would love to have a digital SLR, but right now it is so much easier to pack this little thing in my purse and go! It has a great zoom and video functions so I can catch all the action.
3. Name one thing that every beginning digital scrapbooker should know.
Don’t be afraid of the learning curve with your software. Play, play, play. The great thing with digital is that you can just undo!
4. If you could be transformed into a digital scrapbooking embellishment, what would you choose and why?
A flower - perfect for any occasion, cheery in any season.
5. What time of day do you find that you do your best scrapbooking?
Any time my children are all asleep.
6. What is your favorite snack?
A cheesestick, when there isn’t ice cream in the house.
7. What brand of toothpaste do you use?
Crest Whitening Expressions, Cinnamon Burst
8. What is your least favorite household chore?
Sorting and matching socks. I am always missing one!

Scrap Girls is looking for a qualified digital scrapbooking teacher to teach Photoshop Elements classes. Teachers are required to create class PDFs which are reviewed prior to class. Teachers have complete flexibility in scheduling classes.
Candidates must have strong skills in Photoshop Elements as well as strong layout design skills. Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus. They must be warm and friendly, comfortable handling fast-paced chat room situations, and able to easily handle questions that arise regarding their particular software area of expertise.
Candidates will be required to audition for this paid position. There will be a list of topics available from which classes can be developed, however the teachers are encouraged to present their own ideas for approval as well.
