Customer Muse: Of All Places |
Have you ever been locked out of your hotel room?
This happened to me during a family vacation to the majestic Grand Canyon! After viewing the sunset on the south rim of the Grand Canyon, my husband, son and I returned to our room at the Kachina Lodge. I decided that I wanted to explore historic El Tavor before turning in for the night.
I told my family that I would be right back, but when I returned I could not remember our room number. I stood in the hall and knocked on a few doors and called my son's name loudly. An elderly couple came by and the man asked jokingly if I had been kicked out of the room. I laughed and the woman offered to call my husband since he wasn't answering the door, but I didn't want to admit that I had no clue what my room number was.
Meanwhile, a family of five came by and the mom said, “Are you SURE this is our room?” The husband said YES, so that made me feel somewhat better. By then, I was feeling so foolish that I decided I would have to go to the main desk.
At the front desk, the woman asked me for ID which I didn't have and when she looked up our reservation she said loudly, “The reservation is in YOUR name!” I said, “I KNOW!” She wouldn't tell me the number and called my hubby to have him collect me.
I felt like a wayward child. I must admit that I accused my family of not opening the door, stating that the TV was too loud. They could see I was visibly upset so they didn't say anything. Later, my son innocently mentioned that he thought I was knocking on the wrong door. I had to laugh and say he was probably correct.
Of all places... on the rim of the Grand Canyon! The next day, we hiked along the South Kaibab trail into the Canyon... but that's another story!

What Customers Are Saying... |
After receiving PSE6 for Christmas, I found myself overwhelmed by the complexity of getting to know a whole new world - just so that I could touch up a few favorite photos. It took me a while, but I finally stumbled onto the Scrap Girls site and now I'm completely hooked! I cannot believe all of the fun things I can now do on my computer! I have been logging as much time as possible trying to learn new techniques.
I have always loved all types of crafts, but told myself that scrapbooking wasn't for me. Boy, was I wrong! I really think that it was just the paper scrapbooking that wasn't for me since I am an organizational nut and didn't like the idea of all those supplies lying around. (Not that they can't be organized... it was just the vision in my head.)
Since my revelation, I have pulled my mom and some friends into this great site/world. My mom and I are having so much fun that we have already signed up for the convention. I can't wait!
Thank you all for the support, great products, tutorials and daily newsletters (especially your muses, Ro).

So true, so true! I have visited some other sites and I am truly amazed to see that Scrap Girls quality is not only A+, but it’s better than all of the others! I think I have actually seen some of our Commercial Use products used to develop other products on other sites. So, I ask myself, why buy a duplicate, when I can get an original?

I love this new collection [Love at Home Collection Mini]! Ro, you are so talented in every way! The Lord has truly blessed you! Thank you for the sweet new collection! It's beautiful and I can't wait to use it with my many "girly" photos!

I have always been interested in digital scrapping. (I have been doing traditional scrapping for many years.) I was always too scared, but mostly very lost and not knowing where to start or how. I met Shar on another site and she sent me here. I'm so glad she did. Between her help and direction and that which I have found here, I have actually made my very first digital layout! Okay, so it's not a “great” layout, but it's a layout nonetheless! I had a ton of fun doing it, too!

Hi, I have been using Scrap Girls for supplies and reading the great newsletters for over a year now, but never got around to using the message board. It was a tough enough job learning Photoshop. This is all new to me, but now I'm ready to have a go. My husband has realized that I am a scrap fanatic and decided to book me into the convention as a surprise. Once I got over the shock, I began to get really excited, but I'm feeling I might be a bit of a lonely soul trekking over from England on my own. I could get so much more excited if I knew a few of the people who would be there. So, I'm just saying hello to everyone out there - I have finally braved the message board
and I'm making a special call to anyone going to the convention to respond. It would be good to hear from you.

My third daughter just graduated from high school two weeks ago and I decided to make her a special memory book of pictures from prom and graduation. I was thinking I would do all of this manually until I stumbled across the Scrap Girls website a few days ago and discovered your world of digital scrapbooking. I LOVE technology and I am SO impressed with the creativity and software expertise that I see here. I can't wait to get up to speed and join the fun! Unfortunately, I have to go to work, but I would much rather be home playing on my computer! |

Congratulations to Karen Chandler for winning the Monthly Layout Contest for July. Her beautiful layout did a fantastic job of fitting the theme of being a tourist in your own town. Karen will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique for her efforts. Congratulations!

STAYcation 2008 Winners!
We had so many winners with all of our chats, games and randomness during our STAYcation 2008 Event that it would be impossible to list them all! So, we've got some of the highlights from the week here, and we want to express our sincere gratitude for each and every one of you who participated and made our STAYcation so much fun.
Guess the Blinkie:
We started our STAYcation Event off with a fun game on the message board. Everybody was invited to guess why V would have created six, no, make that SEVEN new blinkies! We had four runners-up who were so close, they needed to win something, so Debi Lou, Sherry Lynn, JustPattyAnne and Silly each won a brush set of their choice.
KBT was right on with her guess, “Yes! A Scrapgirls Stay-cation! Bingo pool party! Cram the Chat room! Beachside crop! That would be fun!” and won a Collection of her choice.
And then to make it even more fun and confusing... before we announced the winners, we had a mini Guess Who Guessed Right game! GinaMO guessed the right guesser, and won an Assemble Your Own Zoom Page of her choice. Phew!

Moss STAYcation Layout Winners:
Scrap Girls' unofficial Moss-cot got to go on some crazy adventures during his STAYcation week... and he's got the layouts to prove it! We had 64 entries, and it was so tough to just pick one winner that we've got six! Jane in N.Z won with her amazingly clever “Bungy Jumping.” Runners up are Actnfunny, JenW, AnnBK, aafaa and jnomojo. Congratulations! And, be sure to visit our Special Events, Challenges and Contests> Staycation 2008> Moss goes on Vacation Gallery to see all of Moss' incredible adventures!

Picnic Basket of Doom:
The winner with the most correct answers of 34 was: Christine Bowens (cricket331), you have won a $10 Scrap Girls Gift Certificate!
Then, we have the random drawings. Originally, we were going to have drawings for $25, $10, and $5 Gift Certificates. Since there were so many of you with high numbers of correct guesses, and no one in the 5-9 category, we dropped the $5 Gift Certificates and added another $10!! Winners of the random drawing are: $25, kle-Karen; $10, Ritzbits; and $10, SherryLynn.
Congratulations winners! And a HUGE thank you to everyone for your participation!
Now, what you've all been waiting for... the LIST!

Please note that if you choose to use any Scrap Girls tools or templates in your submission, commercial licenses for those products are required. (Even our own designers must purchase commercial licenses for any items they wish to use in a non-personal manner!) If your freebie is chosen, you will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the Scrap Girls Boutique!
Suggest a Challenge, Win a Prize! Have a great idea for a gallery layout challenge? Submit it to [email protected]. If your challenge idea is chosen, you will win a prize (such as a brush set, paper set, embellishment set, etc.). The prize will be a surprise, but you'll be sure to like it because you will get to pick out the one you like best from your category! Friday will be Customer Challenge Day, so keep an eye out on the message board calendar. It will be fun to see what YOU come up with for us to do!
Scrap Girls is giving away birthday gifts to our message board members! Of course, it is a surprise what you will get because birthday presents are always surprises! But you will like it for sure because most people like money... Oops! Did I say that? No. You did NOT hear me say that. Anyway, make sure your message board email address is current and that you have the correct date entered into your profile to participate. |

Ro personally uses Carbonite to back up her computer. While it won't backup external hard-drives, it is a fabulous solution for keeping all of your important documents on your C:/ drive safe and your backups completely up-to-date at all times. Using it has made her stop worrying about losing important business and financial files, because the backup happens without Ro having to do a single thing.

Hard drives do fail. Don't think they won't and that you will escape from it happening to you forever. Just get a plan for managing what will happen someday and save yourself a lot of pain, sweat, agony and tears.
You need several methods of backing up in case one of them fail. Acronis True Image 11.0 is Ro's personal choice for creating a complete back up (software, operating system, settings... you name it) of her hard drives. It is easy to use (no excess geek speak) which is why she is recommending it to you. |
