Customer Muse: Worry-Wart
Sometimes, I wish I could just snap my fingers and fix whatever it
is that I'm worrying about. I'm a total worry-wart. Seriously. I worry
about EVERYTHING. I can't sleep at night because I think of things
to worry about. If there's not something I'm concerned with, I rack
my brain trying to come up with something to concern myself with. I'm
not joking. Deep down, I have a peaceful sense in God that everything
will be okay, but I find myself thinking through countless scenarios
of “what ifs” and “yeah, buts” until I just
drift off to sleep. (Even then, I DREAM about junk.)
I don't really
know why this happens or why I let myself do this. I've tried convincing
myself that worrying doesn't really help, but I find some sense of
security in it - if I think through every situation and come up with
every possible outcome for every single stress in my life, then I won't
be too shocked when it happens. Or do I just like to be pessimistic?
As
I was thinking about all of this, I have decided that I'm going to
try to list my top ten worries/concerns and then focus on one a week
for the next 10 weeks. I will pray about it, be proactive about it,
talk with my husband, John, about
it and have him help me let go of this gripping paranoia.
-
Finances - Obviously
a big one. I made a joke about my inner “money
munchkin” tonight who told me the other day to not waste
money on microwaveable popcorn. But then, John came back at me
with the fact that I don't listen to that money munchkin when I
really should... so I'm going to try to be better about our budget
and getting out of debt so that we don't have this huge, black
cloud hanging over our heads for the rest of our lives.
-
Work - I just don't
make the time to get done what I need to and I make all sorts of
excuses not to. Then, I freak out because I have “so much
to do.”
-
Being
a Good Mommy - I just need to focus more on spending meaningful
time with the boys.
-
My Relationship with God - I know that
if I get this one all fixed then everything else would fall in line.
It's just the DOING it instead of constantly thinking about it and
then worrying because I DIDN'T do it.
-
My Little Sister - I worry
about her all day long as she works on fixing her failing marriage.
-
My
Health/Fitness - Really, need I say more?
-
Losing One or Both
of the Boys or John - I seriously freak out about this more than
I should.
-
My Relationship with John - Just making the time to talk
about things other than work and the kids and really keeping “us” in
good shape.
-
How Others View Me - I am so insecure and paranoid that
no one likes me. I go home from meetings, church and family gatherings
absolutely convinced that I'm a mess and said the wrong things and
no one really enjoyed my company. I don't know how such an outwardly
seemingly-confident person is so insecure, but I really am. I'd really
like to work on my self-image and change how I view other people
viewing me.
-
Various Little Things that are Totally Within my Control -
Like cleaning the house instead of playing Xbox, finding my keys,
writing thank you cards for Tyler's birthday or writing the journaling
for that scrapbook page before I forget how special today actually
was. I have so many things that just come down to laziness and, at
the end of the day, I feel so guilty that I just worry and worry
that I'm not the person I want to be or should be and then my brain
goes to how I'm unhappy with myself. I just need to get my butt in
gear so that I don't have the little things to worry about and can
focus on the bigger things that might actually matter.
Whew. I feel better.
For now.

What Customers Are Saying...
 |
 |
 |
First, let me say that all of my transactions with Scrap
Girls have gone wonderfully. (Other than on my end, which is
another story - fighting with the satellite company.) Any
time I have emailed you, you have responded quickly with the
answers I've needed. And now, to get this letter, just
to make sure that things are okay, is one more thing on my “Why
I love Scrap Girls” list. In the world today, customer
service has flown out the door. But, at Scrap Girls,
you remind me what customer service means and that it
not only exists, but far exceeds any of my VERY high standards.
Thank you so much.

I find that Scrap Girls is a wonderfully personal shop.
This is the first time that I have felt like an Internet shop
was as good as or better than a little boutique in my favorite
shopping district. It's great to walk into a small boutique
where you get to know the proprietor and can have a personal
shopping experience. You know the one, where the owner
greets you by name, knows just what you are looking for and
becomes more of your friend than just a shop owner. Online,
that is rare. I used to think it was impossible, but
Scrap Girls has changed my mind!
I have not had any problems with purchases or downloads; everything
is perfect. The only problem (download traffic due to smaller
servers) was addressed even before I was able to think about
it... great service for letting us all know about it. I have
always felt that if you allow customers to know your limitations
and especially if they are out of your control, then the customers
tend to be nice about inconveniences.
I stumbled upon Scrap Girls because I was looking for a tutorial
on Photoshop, which I already owned, but had no clue how to use.
What a surprise! My biggest set backs for scrapbooking were:
the amount of clutter it takes to paper scrap; the expense of
paper scrapping due to supplies, tools, storage containers, scrap
books, etc.; and the fact that it pained me to cut up all that
pretty paper. Now, with Scrap Girls, I can drag and drop, cut
and paste, and create beautiful scrapbook pages with nothing
more to buy except my 8x8 scrapbooks. |

It's that time again!
Join us for an exciting game of BINGO on the Message Board
Forum in May! Pick 25 words from the list provided in the
forum and send them in an e-mail to [email protected] with
a subject line saying "BINGO CARD" and including
your message board user name by Sunday, May 4th in order

Each day, members of the Welcoming Committee will call 5

Bingo card at any time during the month and you'll be eligible
to begin playing when a new round starts. Everyone who sends
in a Bingo card will receive a confirmation email that their
card has been received. If you do not receive confirmation
within 24 hours, please re-send your list of words. We cannot
be held responsible for misdirected emails.

May Layout Contests:
Layout
Contest: Life is short and passes us by
in a flash. Scrapbooking helps us remember the good times,
and the not-so-good times, too. We've all experienced loss
in our lives, but have you scrapped about that loss? For
the May Layout Contest, create a layout about someone or
something you've lost and remember the good times. Upload
your layout to the May Layout Contest Gallery and you could
win a $10 Gift Certificate to the boutique! The contest
runs until May 31st, at midnight EST!
Mid-April
Layout Contest: Everybody’s life needs a little
silliness in it. For the mid-month contest, we want you to
scrap something silly. It could be photos of your kids, pets
or yourself doing something silly, a practical joke you played
on someone, or a silly story. Post your layout sharing something
silly by midnight on May 14th and you might win $10 to the
Scrap Girls boutique!

Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed! for Adobe Photoshop Elements
versions 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 & 6.0
It's time for you to stop playing
catch-up in Photoshop and start having a blast doing the more
advanced tricks that you see other people and professional
digital scrapbookers doing.
- Take the world's easiest shortcuts to
creating your own backgrounds, embellishments, and alphas.
- Make sure that you don't make the biggest
mistakes that digital scrapbookers make when they create
layouts.
- Learn fantastic tricks for using Scrap
Girls ScrapSimple products.
- Dip your digital scrapbooking self into
some of those "other" cool tools that are sitting there
waiting in your software for you to use such as paths,
masks, the drawing pen, and more.
- See how easy it is to install and manage
new Custom Shapes and Styles in Photoshop so that you
can make things that are creative and unique.
- Learn advanced tricks for using tools
that you already know and love.
- Watch me make some beautiful papers and
get a chance to peek inside of my layers. (Oh dear...
That is the last frontier and I might be out of my mind
to let you do it... NOBODY likes people to see inside
of their layers. It is like having visitors peek inside
of your dresser drawers. Very private stuff.)
- See a new way for coloring doodles. (I'm
betting that it will surprise you what tool I've used
to do that with, too...)
- Get "IN" on creating your own brush sets.
(You do NOT have to have those impossibly long brush sets
frustrating you anymore. In fact, when you learn this
trick, you will wonder why you haven't been using it all
along.)

Ro personally uses Carbonite to
back up her computer. While it won't backup external hard-drives,
it is a fabulous solution for keeping all of your important
documents on your C:/ drive safe and your backups completely
up-to-date at all times. Using it has made her stop worrying
about losing important business and financial files, because
the backup happens without Ro having to do a single thing.
