Life Muses by Ro: The Evidence of My Crime
Note from Ro: I am a desperate woman. I have six muses to write in two days because I am going on business travel next week (I’ll be there by the time you are reading this) and our editor is going to Germany, as well. This means that I have to seriously work ahead. And so I am stealing from myself. This is one of my recent favorite posts from my blog!
They stand in front of Lowe's, their innocent little faces looking up at you as they say, "Do you want to buy some cookies?"
The response comes, "Uh. What do you have?" (As if I don't already know...)
The innocent faces quickly show the boxes that have pictures of the cookies.
They are the familiar ones…the ones that have been sold by girls in green for years upon years.
I stare at the boxes and the internal argument begins...
Ro1: "You shouldn't. They aren't good for you."
Ro2: "But it will help this kid if you buy some."
Ro1: "Snort. Delude yourself, if you will. You want some of those Thin Mints."
Ro2: "No, really... I want to help a Girl Scout. It is the right thing to do. I'll give my kids the cookies."
Ro1: "Right. I believe that. Not. Those Thin Mints are calling your name. Can you hear them? 'Ro! Ro! Eat me! Eat me!'"
Ro2: "What happened to the diet?"
Ro1: "What diet is that?"
Ro2: "The diet that does not include Thin Mints."
Ro1: "I don't think I know of such a diet. I am supposed to eat more green things and since Thin Mints come in a green box, I'm covered."
Ro2: "I can see I'm never going to get anywhere with you. Go ahead and get them, if you will. But don't say I didn't try to reason with you."
Ro1: "You have a deal."
The little girl smiles. "I have a deal? What did you want then?"
I gasp. "I said that out loud?" I think. "All of it? No, I couldn't have said all of it outloud or she would know I want Thin Mints. I'm okay."
I smile back at her. "Give me a box of Thin Mints, please."
The girl attempts to up sell. "Just one box?"
"One will do," I reply. There is no reason to go crazy. I know that I'll down that single box soon and I need to prevent a complete sugar melt-down, if possible.
The evidence of my crime.
(This was a completely fictional story. The facts: My husband brought the Thin Mints home for me. The girl was outside of Lowe's and he saw her selling cookies. Knowing that I adore Thin Mints, he bought them to please me. The arguments about eating them started as soon as I started to eat them. The cookies are gone now.)

Tutorial: Adding Importance and Value to a Photo
Note: Tutorial Created Using Photoshop CS3 with Windows XP.
The best way to add importance and value to the most significant element on your digital scrapbooking layout, the photo, is to embellish it. There are many ways to do this and many products that make it easy.
One option is to give the photo dimension. A great way to do this is to make the photo appear to be curling up off of the layout. ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Photo Folds 2 make this a quick job.
Start by opening your chosen photo and the base file for the fold you wish to use. Drag your photo onto the base file and resize your photo if necessary. Move the photo layer under the base layer. Make sure you have the base layer selected and then click Select>Load Selection and OK. Then, click on your photo layer and select Copy and Paste. This will trim your photo into the base shape. Delete the gray base layer and your untrimmed photo layer, leaving just the trimmed photo.
Now, open the other four files for the photo fold. Here is a quick way to layer all of the elements together so that they match up exactly. Take the bottom layer, in this case the base (your newly trimmed photo) and reduce its viewing size down by clicking Ctrl+- seven or eight times. Then, drag the layers that will stack on top of that layer by clicking on the image and dragging it into the gray area of the reduced border layer. In this case, drag the border, then the shadow, then the fold and finally the lower tear. This will allow the images to line up correctly with one another.
Now you have a curled photo!
Another option for adding importance to a photo is to add embellishments to it. There are an infinite amount of possibilities when it comes to embellishments, but a great set of elements are the ScrapSimple Embellishment Templates: Ribbon Wraps.
Open the ribbon wrap of your choice. Drag the ribbon layer onto your curled photo file and resize it to the edges of the photo by selecting Edit>Transform>Scale. Click Enter when it is sized correctly. Add color to the ribbon by clicking on Image>Adjustments>Color Balance. Play with the sliding scales until you get the color you want and click OK.

In honor of the month that starts the silliest

about our Scrap Girls Team Members as we play a rousing game
of "Who Am I?" Every day, a member of the Welcoming
Committee will post a fact about one of the ScrapGirls Team
Members and ask, "Who Am I?" A new fact will be added
daily until someone correctly guesses which team member is
being described. Once a team member is correctly guessed, a
new team member will be featured starting the following day.
Team Members include anyone featured on
the "About
Us" page of the ScrapGirls website including Product
Design Team, Layout Artist Team, Welcoming Committee, etc.
Answers to the “Who Am I?” puzzles can be found
anywhere on the ScrapGirls site... including Gallery Layouts,
