Customer Muse: Greatest Gift

Amid the chaos of ripping paper and squeals of delight as the boys dove into one present after the other on Christmas morning, there came a magical moment when my sons gave me the best gift I could have ever imagined.  I didn't open the gift.  In fact, it was the boys who each opened a gift and managed to bring tears of joy to this Mama's eyes.

After several months of creatively toiling over digital layout after layout, I'd managed to create a personal story book of each of my three sons' lives from their previous year.  Full of photos and stories, anecdotes and memories, the albums had been a labor of love, and one that I did with passion and enthusiasm.  But I just knew that my 10 year old, 6 year old and 2 year old sons couldn't possibly appreciate the effort I'd gone through to capture their personal stories, and I convinced myself (to avoid my own disappointment in their Christmas morning reactions...) that the value of those books wouldn't be realized until my kids were much, much older and "wiser."  Maybe not even until some future day, years from now, when they would be sitting on a college dorm room bed and longing for a hug from home, or cuddling on a couch with their spouse, expecting or enjoying a child of their own.

I waited patiently as they each tore through the wrapping on their own story book.  I wasn't disappointed at all when I saw them each realize what they were holding and then smile at their own photo smiling back at them from the cover of their personal book.  I smiled contentedly and expected them to eagerly move on to the next, more exciting gift.  But something very unexpected happened next.  A hush fell over our family room as my sons became mesmerized in the gifts they held in their hands.  They paged carefully through their individual story books. They had been giddy and boisterous as they were opening presents, but when it came to their scrapbooks they just thrilled at seeing their own stories and photos in hardbound printed books, and quietly settled in for several minutes of quiet, happy reminiscing as they literally flipped through and looked at each page in their own book with no coaxing or encouragement from me. It was such an emotional moment for me to see them excited about seeing themselves in their books.  Tears of joy streamed down my face as we all shared a special moment together as a family.

I truly believe that preserving their stories is one of the greatest gifts I can give to my children.  And their reaction was easily the greatest gift I could ever have asked for at Christmas time!

What Customers Are Saying...

I was surprised by your mail but very pleased to see that you care about your customers opinions. I wish my internet provider was as considerate... But that's another story.

I have only had to email you once and despite the difference in GMT, I still received a very quick and efficient response. I never have any problems with downloads and await  the 15th of the month  with anticipation as my ScrapSimple download is like receiving a surprise present—except that you're sure to enjoy this one!

I have had great enjoyment from visiting your site, which I find very well designed and extremely informative. I have even learned quite a bit by following your Scrap Girls tutorials and I always enjoy the newsletters.  Your site has been an inspiration on more than one level as this year I have finally enrolled to do a graphics design and a web design course in the hope that one day I would be able to achieve the same fantastic level as your designers.  I purchase from several digital design sites but I must admit Scrap Girls is my favorite because the quality of the graphics is always so brilliant. I have three young children and seem to be making birthday cards for their friends at least 4 or 5 times a month! I used to get stuck for ideas, now I just use the scrap kits and it's done in no time!

In a world where people find it much easier to buy than to create, it is comforting to know that there are other likeminded people out there who are still bursting with individuality.

I also love your muses in the newsletter as somehow it's like listening to my own thoughts.

Right now I couldn't think of one bad thing to say about Scrap Girls so if you were looking for constructive criticism:  sorry, you've got the wrong girl for the job!

Carry on the good work!

I had great service for my recent purchase.  I had a question so I sent an email and I got a prompt, pleasant response.  You have a wonderful team and great products.

Just wanted to reply and say thank you for this email. It shows that Scrap Girls does care for their customers.

As for my purchases, I have never had a problem with the purchasing process or anything else for that matter. I did have a few questions in the past and they were answered promptly.

As a matter of fact, there were a couple things on the website that I just loved but they weren’t available for commercial use and that’s what I needed. I emailed Scrap Girls and Angie Briggs emailed me back, contacted the designer and within a few days I had what I needed. That’s what I call customer service!

I think Scrap Girls is perfect and every scrapper and/or designer’s dream.

I just wanted to reply and tell you that Scrap Girls service is amazing.  It is the most instant gratification a person could ever want.

I love all of the products that I have bought.  Some, I use more than others, but they are all wonderful.

Thank you for such great service.

I am exceptionally happy with Scrap Girls!!  The quality of the products is fantastic, the training videos are excellent, and whenever I have had a question it has been answered within 24 hours.  I have not been trying digital scrapbooking for long, but no matter where I look I always come back to Scrap Girls as the best.  Now I just have to get my act together and start producing layouts.  Thank You!

Thanks, Ro, for your thoughtful consideration. I always appreciate the wonderful customer service at Scrap Girls. You are doing everything right and I am grateful for that.

I have been very impressed with the quality of service that you and your team give here at Scrap Girls. I'm more than satisfied with all that you provide: service, quality product, newsletter, message board & most of all, your unconditional support.

Thank you for being there for us (me). THANK YOU never seems to say enough but I hope you all at Scrap Girls know how much you all mean to us (me). I'm very happy being one of the family and feel well looked after. From the bottom of my heart I THANK YOU ALL.

I love Scrap Girls and I am very pleased with my purchases from y'all. I really enjoy the site, and the Secrets Revealed is the entire reason I know how to do ANYTHING!  I love that the most.  Thanks for being a good teacher and for showing us how to do the things that y'all created.

March Events

March Board Game: Posting Contest

Are you ready for a workout? It's important to warm up before exercising, so try this with me. Open your hands and stretch your fingers as wide as they'll stretch. Now make a very tight fist. Again.... Stretch! Make a fist! Stretch! Make a fist! There you go! You're now sufficiently warmed up for this month's message board game.

It's time to put those fingers to the test and get chatty. We want to see you post the most! The top 10 posters this month will each win a gift certificate to the boutique! (Top 1-3 will each get a $10 GC, 4-6 will each get a $5 GC and 7-10 will each get a $3 GC!) We've got a system to keep track of your posts. If you want to keep your own tally, note your post count before you start posting on Saturday March 1st. Contest ends on Monday March 31st at midnight ET!

Remember to repeat your stretching exercises as necessary throughout the month!

March Layout Contests:

Layout Contest: This month we want to see your layouts of people or things that are on the move! It could be a great action sports shot, someone running a marathon, or even a child running through the grass. It could even be your pet flying across your photo. So, give us your best action shot and the story behind it posted to the March gallery before midnight EST on March 31st and you could win $10 to the boutique!

Mid-February Layout Contest: Faith is a very powerful attribute. On the Scrap Girls Message Board, we have all witnessed the power of faith. For the Mid-February Layout Contest, we’d like to see your layouts about faith…your religion, a leap of faith, your faith in another person or object…whatever moves you. The contest will run from February 15th until March 15th at midnight, EST time. To be eligible to win a $10 gift card to the boutique, please post your layouts in the Mid-February Layout Contest section of the Gallery. Have fun and Good Luck!

Friday will be Customer Challenge Day so keep an eye out on the message board calendar. It will be fun to see what YOU come up with for us to do!

Note from Ro: Scrap Girls is now giving away birthday gifts to our message board members! Of course, it is a surprise what you will get because birthday presents are always surprises! But you will like it for sure because most people like money... Oops! Did I say that? No. I didn't say that. You did NOT hear me say that.

Anyway, make sure your message board email address is current and that you have the correct date entered into your profile or you'll miss out on the birthday present! (You will only be entering the month and the date so don't be shy. We won't know how old you actually are!)

MORE Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed!

*NEW!* MORE Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed! for Adobe Photoshop (Versions 6, 7, CS, CS2, CS3)

MORE Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed! for Adobe Photoshop Elements versions 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 & 6.0

It's time for you to stop playing catch-up in Photoshop and start having a blast doing the more advanced tricks that you see other people and professional digital scrapbookers doing.

  • Take the world's easiest shortcuts to creating your own backgrounds, embellishments, and alphas.
  • Make sure that you don't make the biggest mistakes that digital scrapbookers make when they create layouts.
  • Learn fantastic tricks for using Scrap Girls ScrapSimple products.
  • Dip your digital scrapbooking self into some of those "other" cool tools that are sitting there waiting in your software for you to use such as paths, masks, the drawing pen, and more.
  • See how easy it is to install and manage new Custom Shapes and Styles in Photoshop so that you can make things that are creative and unique.
  • Learn advanced tricks for using tools that you already know and love.
  • Watch me make some beautiful papers and get a chance to peek inside of my layers. (Oh dear... That is the last frontier and I might be out of my mind to let you do it... NOBODY likes people to see inside of their layers. It is like having visitors peek inside of your dresser drawers. Very private stuff.)
  • See a new way for coloring doodles. (I'm betting that it will surprise you what tool I've used to do that with, too...)
  • Get "IN" on creating your own brush sets. (You do NOT have to have those impossibly long brush sets frustrating you anymore. In fact, when you learn this trick, you will wonder why you haven't been using it all along.)
  • Find out why Custom Shapes are so important to you. (Bet you didn't know...)
  • Learn how to cut out a title from a background or a photo.
  • And even more...

Note: These are NOT beginning tutorials. If you get this training and you have never used Photoshop before or if you aren't pretty sure of yourself in the software, you are going to be lost. You simply have to understand layers, where things are located, and all of the basic, important skills that Ro teaches in her Scrapbook Software Secrets Revealed series before you try to use it.
