Life Muses by Ro: The Medium of Digital Scrapbooking
"Art teaches nothing, except the significance of life."

Maybe some people don't think digital scrapbooking is art. But, I beg to differ. It is visual communication that tells a story and conveys emotion. It is art to those who create it. You do not have to understand it for it to move into the "non-art" category, just as you do not have to understand oil paintings for them to be considered art.
Remember art class in school? We scribbled with crayons, carried the pictures home and asked our mothers to admire our great artwork. Even if mother didn't understand what we had drawn, we knew that we had attempted to communicate something with Crayolas on paper.
The medium of digital scrapbooking is computer graphics combined with digital photography. It is created in software and is printed out or passed around electronically for others to enjoy. It is completely fascinating for those who engage in it, partially because we enjoy complete freedom driven by "undo" commands and "save as" computer functionality.
I am a digital scrapbooker and through it, I am discovering who I am.

Way Cool Stuff Product
Review: Patterns
Instead of colorizing elements and shapes on your scrapbook pages, try a new technique and use patterns to fill them. I haven't played with this too much, but once I started it was WAY COOL! Start with selecting a shape you want to fill. I used the magic wand tool.
Once your shape is selected, go to the top of your screen and select Edit>Fill Layer.
Then change your contents to pattern. You will see a small drop down arrow next to the pattern. Click on this and a new window opens allowing you to select an array of patterns installed in your program. Or you can upload ones you have purchased in the boutique, by choosing “Load Patterns”, and then locating the files you have stored on your computer.
For this layout I chose Valerie's ScrapSimple Tools: Patterns - Leaves. All you do is select the pattern you want to use.
Click on it and the program fills your shape with the pattern you select. I filled all the squares with the same pattern. A cool thing is that you will notice with Valerie's Pattern tool that each square is a different variation of the pattern. Cool huh? Yeah...I thought so too.
I did the same technique for the chipboard swirls behind the photo of the daffodil & the “1”. I selected the brush with the magic wand and used the same steps as before, but decided to use a different pattern. For that I used Valerie's ScrapSimple Tools: Patterns - Paint, then re-colored it purple to go with my layout.
But I just couldn't leave well enough alone. I was thinking that it would be nice if you could see through my little tiles a bit so I used Erica's ScrapSimple Tools Styles: Colored Vellum and bang!! They popped!

Are you ready for a workout? It's important
to warm up before exercising, so try this with me. Open your
hands and stretch your fingers as wide as they'll stretch.
Now make a very tight fist. Again.... Stretch! Make a fist!
Stretch! Make a fist! There you go! You're now sufficiently
warmed up for this month's message board game.
It's time to put those fingers to the test
and get chatty. We want to see you post the most! The top 10
posters this month will each win a gift certificate to the
boutique! (Top 1-3 will each get a $10 GC, 4-6 will each get
a $5 GC and 7-10 will each get a $3 GC!) We've got a system
to keep track of your posts. If you want to keep your own tally,
note your post count before you start posting on Saturday March
