Life Muses by Ro: Get Off the Freeway
(Note: This is a quote of the day from my blog. But, every time I have looked at it, a little voice inside keeps telling me that I should show it to all of you. So, here goes… Maybe it will help someone out there somewhere…)

I should have known that something big was coming when I was saved from extinction that day on the freeway. I should have died. My car should have jumped the barrier - or missed it completely - and have been hurled out over the ravine onto the train tracks below.
But, I was saved when a voice yelled at me, "Get off the road, Rozanne."
I said, "Oh yeah!" and pulled hard to the right.
If the voice wouldn't have come, I would have died because I was in shock. My car had been hit twice and I could see cars all around me as I spun circles on a packed freeway.
But, I survived that day and from that moment on, my life began to change. I was thrown into a new life. Or perhaps, I chose it.
I have narrowly escaped death on multiple occasions. My family tells me that I need to write it all down.
What I know for sure (to borrow a phrase from Oprah) is that each time I walked away from death, my life changed.
You don't have to escape death on the freeway to change your life. Maybe you are close to emotional or spiritual death right now. If you are, I'm telling you, "Get off of the freeway!"

Tutorial: Unique Photo Effect Using ScrapSimple Paper Templates
Note: Tutorial created using Photoshop CS2 with Mac OS X.
We use all kinds of tools and methods to create interesting backgrounds and, more often than not, we could be using these same techniques to create dramatic effects for our photos as well! I am going to share a way to use ScrapSimple Paper Templates to create a very dramatic and funky photo effect.
This technique can also do some pretty amazing things with photo subjects other than flowers, etc. In this example, I want to take this woman’s eye and create an edgy, techie effect with ScrapSimple Paper Templates and Blending Modes.
The first thing I do is to duplicate the original photo layer by dragging it down to the “create new layer” button. I then change the Blending Mode to Color Dodge and drag the Opacity slider down to 34%, which creates a much more dramatic effect.
I want to create an edgy look with a text overlay, so I am using the ScrapSimple Paper Templates: Textured Journal.
The picture above shows the Textured Journal paper template placed on top of the photo in the working file.
The picture above shows the results of changing the Blending Mode of the paper template layer to Overlay and reducing the Opacity to 64%.
Now, I have something much more dramatic that is sure to make a bigger statement. This would be a great technique to use for a freestyle type of a layout with the journaling as an overlay on the subject’s face.
Experimenting with these photo enhancement techniques can really add extra dimension and feeling to your digital scrapbooking layouts. Try a few out and see what kind of unique results you might come up with!

make the subject of your email "BINGO Card" and include
your Scrap Girls forum user name (for example: BINGO CARD
wxchic or BINGO CARD AngRoCamp). Please PUT THE
SAME THING in your e-mail followed by your 25 words. I don’t
need your real name, just your screen name!
You have until Midnight EST on Sunday, February
3rd to sign up for the first round of Bingo! Any e-mails received
after that will be included in the next round of Bingo. I cannot
be held responsible for misdirected emails. You do not have
to register for each round of Bingo once you are playing. Your
card is good through all the rounds. (You will receive a response
