Customer Muse: Confession
I have a confession to make. I am really tired today, drained dry
and exhausted. I feel terrible about it. As a mom, I feel like we
are supposed to have this endless well of energy and wisdom available
for our children. Today, the well is empty. The past few days have
been too hard. I haven't even felt like scrapbooking and that
is my usual "therapy."
My five-year-old daughter has bi-polar
disorder and ADHD. I love her to the end of my being, but I am tired.
Tired of fighting to get her to understand that I love her. Tired of
trying to keep her from disturbing the other kids while they nap. Tired
of trying to convince her that she shouldn't hurt herself or others.
Tired of being scared that she'll hurt her little sister again. Bone
tired of trying to find a solution. We've tried every discipline method out there,
from ignoring the bad behavior and rewarding the good to taking away privileges
and toys, and nothing is working. It seems to be getting worse. The medicine
isn't helping.
She is uncomfortable in her own skin, always too sad or too happy.
There is no middle ground. Not one day goes by without some sort of
struggle for her, which translates into struggle for our family. My
three-year-old daughter broke my heart this morning when her older
sister was crying and screaming. She yelled down the hallway at her
and said, "I just wish you would be quiet sometimes!" Why
did it break my heart? I wish she would just be quiet sometimes, too.
It's not
always easy to be understanding of her illness and it is a true illness,
just the same as if she had a physical disability. The wiring in her brain doesn't
connect correctly and she wants so very badly to be "normal." At five
years old, she's got it figured out that there is a "normal" and she's
not it. When she melts down in public, I get stares and can feel the disapproval
of onlookers. She can, too. She doesn't understand why she can't behave. She
says her brain doesn't listen to her.
I worry about her constantly. Will she be
able to grow up, be married and have a family? Will she pass this grade?
The next one? The worry is crippling to my husband and me and it's
not helping anything. I pray to God and ask if He is looking down and
seeing the pain in my family. I hear in my head, over and over, that
I should give her troubles over to Him because He can shoulder the
burdens better than I can. It is so hard. As a mom, I want to fix
it, to kiss her boo-boo and make it go away. I feel so powerless, lost
and tired. Then, ashamed for feeling this way.

Online Classes Available

Scrap Girls is
looking for qualified digital scrapbooking teachers to teach
Photoshop and Photoshop Elements classes. Teachers will be
required to create class PDFs that will be reviewed prior to
class. Teachers have complete flexibility in scheduling classes.
Candidates
must have strong skills in Photoshop and/or Photoshop Elements
and have strong layout design skills. Knowledge of both programs
is a plus. They must be warm and friendly, comfortable handling
fast-paced chat room situations, and able to easily handle
questions that arise regarding their particular software area
of expertise.
Candidates will be required to audition for this
paid position. There will be a list of topics available from
which classes can be developed, however, the teachers are encouraged
to present their own ideas for approval as well.

I know you want to play, so here is how
you do it. Please pick 25 of the 80 words and phrases listed
in the thread on the message board and send them in an e-mail
to [email protected].
Please make the subject of your email "BINGO Card" and
include your Scrap Girls forum user name (for example: BINGO
CARD wxchic or BINGO CARD AngRoCamp). Please PUT
THE SAME THING in your e-mail followed by your 25 words. I
don’t need
your real name, just your screen name!
You have until Midnight
EST on Sunday, February 3rd to sign up for the first round
of Bingo! Any e-mails received after that will be included
in the next round of Bingo. I cannot be held responsible for
misdirected emails. You do not have to register for each round
of Bingo once you are playing. Your card is good through all
the rounds. (You will receive a response from me that I have
