Customer Muse: Life Is Precious
I like the saying, "Life is precious, handle with care." If
we owned a Ming Dynasty vase, wouldn't we give it special care and
attention? Wouldn't we make sure it isn't dusty and has a special light
shining on it to show how beautiful it is?
How precious life is. What
is really important in life? I know we take lots of pictures to capture
special moments, but quality time with family and friends is more important. Do
we spend enough time with our parents or grandparents? Do we call someone
just to see how they are doing? Do we send a note to tell someone how
much they mean to us? Even something as simple as, "I really enjoy
having you as a friend because..." and not just a, "Thank
you for...."
Today, I received news that a boy in my son's preschool
has cancer. While we are in Chicago enjoying Christmas presents and
parties, going to museums and having tons of fun, they will be in the
hospital trying to spend quality time with their son.
Our families and
friends should be treated like a Ming Dynasty vase. We should treasure
it and take special care not to damage or break it.

3. Name one thing that every beginning digital
scrapbooker should know.
All scrapbookers build their skills the same way, one
layout at a time. Just do the first one. You will get better.
It will get easier. Was that three?
4. If you could be transformed into a digital
scrapbooking embellishment, what would you choose and why?
I think a brush! Brushes are so very useful; they are so flexible,
so adaptable. They can bend and sway on a whim, or support an entire
layout. They can add to a layout, or they can take something
away. Yes, definitely a brush – probably one that sparkles
like Melissa’s Star
Bright, or Lori Cook’s Fairy
Princess.
Every layout needs a little sparkle!
5. What time of day do you find that you do
your best scrapbooking?
I’m a morning person and try to get most of my
work done then, but often find myself staring at a blank document
until my creative juices get going, which is usually late afternoon.
Then, with only minutes to spare before it’s time to start
dinner, everything comes together. Whew!
6. What is your favorite snack?
Honestly, I don’t snack, but if I did, it would probably
be sushi.
7. What brand of toothpaste do you use?

8. What is your least favorite household chore?
Laundry
9. Finish this sentence. “I couldn’t
live without...”
My dear husband, of course! Among a multitude of reasons, he helps
me with the laundry! ....Or did you mean in the scrapbooking
world? If that’s the case, then it would have to be Lori
Cook’s Gold, Silver and Metallic

a layout of mine gets by without just a touch, if not more, of this
treatment! (See #4 above.)
10. What's your current favorite layout that you've done?
[creativity is] Not For Sissies! because it is so far out of my
comfort zone. I did this layout for Denise Doupnik’s Exploring
Design Styles class.

January Board Game: Progressive
Word Scramble
Here's how it works. The object of the game
is to correctly guess a boutique item by solving clues and
unscrambling letters we give you. Each day you are given a
letter or several letters of the name of a boutique item as
well as a clue. You won't know how many letters are in the
boutique item name until it is complete. We will keep giving
clues until a correct guess is made.
The designer's name is not included as part
of the puzzle, and the word "collection" is not included
as part of the puzzle either. Letters from any other words
in product names (such as "biggie", "brush", or "transparency")
may be given as part of the puzzle.
Here is an example:
Day 1 Letters: i
Day 1 Hint: I'm oh so pretty
Day 2 Letters: t n
Day 2 Hint: I know you'll love my soft reds, and blues, and
greens
Day 3 Letters: u o i
Day 3 Hint: It was so nice of Angie to give me some flowers

Be the first to answer it correctly and
win a $5.00 Gift Certificate to the Boutique! You are only
allowed ONE guess per daily clue, and you are only allowed
ONE win per month. When you make your guess, you MUST link

How about taking some time to reflect on the year that
has just passed? You could look at the resolutions you
made last year at this time and scrap about how you did

a retrospective of your year with a few (or several) photos
that highlight your year. Maybe there is one event in your
year that was extra special, like a wedding, a birth, or
a death in the family. So let’s see your layouts
