April grew up in the beautiful mountains of Santa Barbara where she learned to love books and appreciate the outdoors. An alumnus of Brigham Young University, she majored in theatre with a costume design emphasis (to the delight of her daughters). If she’d known how many art classes were required, she might have majored in English, though her art training has helped in her many creative pursuits.

She met and married her husband, Bob, a true computer wizard, while in college. They have four children: Cathrine, Annette, Charlotte, and Thomas. April’s children have developed into wonderful photographers and many of their photographs are featured in her scrapbook layouts.

April caught onto paper scrapbooking in April of 2001 after being invited to a crop by her friends. She soon became a frequent customer at local craft and scrapbook stores, looking for the perfect embellishment or pretty paper. Being a natural-born perfectionist, Adobe Photoshop soon became her tool of choice. She scanned baby blankets and memorabilia to make papers and embellishments that perfectly matched her pictures and layouts. When she found out about digital scrapbooking, she knew it was for her and is still sad she didn’t find Scrap Girls sooner.

April is multi-talented and her other neglected hobbies include quilting, beading, embroidery, gardening, stamping, and of course sewing. Her sewing masterpieces have ranged from puppets to wedding dresses. A seamstress specializing in formal wear as well as custom dye work, she has made many beautiful formal dresses for her daughters as well as gorgeous ballet costumes. If you watch the Joffrey Ballet School’s Nutcracker, the flower costumes are her handiwork.

April is happy to be a member of the Scrap Girls Welcoming Committee and Layout Artist Team and enjoys meeting the many wonderful individuals who contribute to such an amazing and friendly place.
