Mary Elizabeth is pleased to be a part of the Scrap Girls Instructional team, which she joined in Spring of 2008. She has been teaching adult learners for more than 20 years, both in academic and business settings and in traditional and online classrooms. Although she started using technology as a support for teaching, it has increasingly become a focus of her work. More and more, she is working in a virtual environment and conducting instructor training for those wanting to teach online. She is excited to be instructing in digital scrapbooking as it combines the creative with the technology.
She has lived in places as diverse as Tokyo, Prague, Washington, and Ear Falls, Ontario, teaching business, English, and technology. After 10+ years of international work experience, she returned to her home of Halifax, Nova Scotia and decided to pursue additional graduate studies. While studying for a Master of Information Technology Education, she met her now-husband, Stephen. They were married in May, 2000 and now live on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore where they are partners in a Web Services and Consulting business. After so many years on the road, she is now quite content to stay close to home and work in an office across the hall from her bedroom.
Mary Elizabeth has been scrapping since junior high, collecting memorabilia and artifacts. This has translated into a career focus on portfolio and, more recently, e-portfolio, which fits well with digital scrapbooking and journaling. She has been creating scrapbook layouts mainly digitally since 2006, and has introduced digital scrapbooking to others through face-to-face classes in her community. She has had digital scrapbook layouts published in Canadian Scrapbooker magazine.
